It was the day of the singing concert, and there were only three hours left until it began. They'd gone through all whole term of school, and survived - although Leanne nearly got a detention for not handing in her homework on time. Apart from that, everything had been okay. The term had gone by smoothly.

Caitlin and Claire had both quit choir and music lessons. They had come to resent the music done at the school and preferred to spend time with their friends rather than listen to the music teacher lecturing them about having to listen to classical music.

The three of them - Leanne, Caitlin and Claire - had grown closer to Helina, Anna, Cailyn and even Theresa as well over the term.

Now, everyone had gathered at Leanne's house to meet up and prepare. When Claire came, she had seen Leanne and Cailyn in the middle of rehearsing and Caitlin was singing along. Caitlin's voice had become quite good, thanks to her singing lessons, but she refused to acknowledge it. As for Claire, she was terrible at singing.

After a few runs of Flashlight, Leanne had suggested to Cailyn that they try to sing this Love Song mash up by Megan Nicole. It was a song that she had been trying to sing.

"Do you wanna try singing it with me?" Leanne had asked.

"Sure, why not? I like challenges," Cailyn had replied, smiling.

It took a while, but when they finally were in rhythm with each other, they sounded quite good.

Helina had videoed Leanne and Cailyn singing, which earned her a hard punch in the arm from Cailyn and a five minute fight as Cailyn scrabbled to grab Helina's phone from her and delete the video.

Claudia had this amazing idea to wear makeup to the concert, since it was a special night (mark the sarcasm), and Anna agreed. Anna had invited her family friend Theresa, whom Claire and the others met at the rollerblading rink, to Leanne's house to help them do their makeup. Everyone was coming over except Santhuri, who couldn't come and would meet them at the singing concert at school.

The minute Theresa announced that she was going to do everyone's makeup, Helina had tried to run out of the room, but Cailyn held her back.

"Don't worry," said Theresa after looking at Helina. "You're really pretty already. You don't need much. Just mascara."

Helina's eyes widened. "No way!"

"Do it," said Cailyn, who was struggling to hold her back. Despite the fact that Cailyn and Helina were the same height and size, Helina was stronger.

"Only if you do it," retorted Helina. In response, Cailyn whacked Helina hard on the head with a cushion, making Helina's hair frizzle out and get tangled, which Helina groaned at. She hated getting her hair tangled, because apparently her hair was very hard to brush.

"I'll shove two chopsticks up both of your mudda assholes if you both don't do it!" Caitlin threatened them.

Claudia volunteered herself to be first to do her makeup, and so Theresa did her mascara while Claudia and Anna painted Claudia's nails black. Anna already had red lipstick and red nail polish on. Theresa had dark blue and dark purple nail polish and a lot of mascara on her eyelashes, making them look thicker than ever.

"Are you trying to look emo, Claudia?" asked Leanne.

Caitlin squealed. "I love emo! Oli Sykes! Dennis Stoff! Jordan Sweeto!"

"No," said Claire, making Caitlin laugh.

Leanne scowled. "I thought you didn't like those guys anymore."
