The school holidays were full of activity. Claire was hoping for relaxation, but she didn't get much of it. First of all, she'd gotten another cat to play with her cat Lucifer - a brown cat that she had named Michael. Claire loved cats.
She wasn't the only one who had gotten a new pet. Cailyn now had a cute little cocker spaniel that she named Violette.
Violette got along with Lucifier, but not Michael, so Claire and Cailyn had learnt the hard way to keep them apart at all times. Violette had nearly torn Michael apart the first time they had met. Cailyn's puppy's personality was just like her owner. They were both violent.
Caitlin had also had an idea to create a sort of 'family' within the eight of them. Theresa called it the 'Bok Choy Family', which was a stupid name, since they were being named after a Chinese vegetable, but surprisingly, nobody disagreed. It was a weird name, and they all were weird. It suited them perfectly.
Theresa became the granny - the boss of the family, since she had come up with the name. Her daughters were Leanne, Claudia and Anna. Leanne had two daughters: Cailyn and Helina (who Caitlin insisted just had to be sisters in the family). Claudia had no children, and Anna's one and only child was Caitlin. As for Claire, she was supposed to be Theresa's cousin.
The family thing was set back from their minds by a long way afterwards, because when they'd come up with the idea, Caitlin had been in a good mood. She wasn't any longer, though.
Theresa had also surprised all of them on the group chat with the news that she was transferring to their high school. She had wanted to be with everyone, and with Anna's help, her parents had agreed to let her transfer, much to everyone's delight. She didn't seem to care much about her old school, though. She had told everyone that it was a crappy school with even more crappier friends.
Claire reminded Theresa to follow the school rules once she was a student at their school, because the teachers were very strict about it. Why did she have to remind her? Well, she was Claire, after all. She was the cautious nerdy girl in the group, always thinking rationally and logically.
Leanne had also announced on the group chat that Mr. Phillip had called her parents and arranged a time for herself and Cailyn to have their singing lessons. They would commence on the second week of term, as Mr. Phillip wanted the girls to have a week at school without any extra worries.
As if. There were always extra worries. Friend problem worries, for example.
Anna seemed to be opening up to all of them, which made everyone happy, especially Caitlin, for some reason. Claire didn't know why.
Before Caitlin left at the end of the slumber party, she had seemed to have lost her enthusiasm. She just sat in one spot and did nothing. She would stare out into space and not speak at all. The only time when she seemed truly happy was when they all talked about the Bok Choy Family a few days later.
Leanne had privately told Claire how worried she was about her. Claire didn't know what was going on, but Caitlin wasn't the only one who seemed out of sorts.
Helina was barely on the group chat anymore. Cailyn wasn't on as often as she'd usually be either. But whenever Helina was on, Cailyn would be there too. They would both silently read the messages being sent on the group chat and leave just as quietly and swiftly as they had come. Then Caitlin would disappear as well. Claire didn't understand it.
Claire tried talking to Helina privately, but the other girl never replied. Claire hoped she was okay. She wished she knew what was going on so she could help her. She then proceeded to text Cailyn, who replied. But when Claire asked her what was going on with her and Helina, Cailyn shut her down.
