"What the f*ck?" Claire demanded. Nobody touched her friends. Nobody.
She could understand why Brian kidnapped Anna - she was Daniel's sister. But why Joy?
Claire hoped it wasn't anything got to do with her.
"Where are they?" she demanded.
"Shopping centre," Cailyn answered.
Claire frowned. Who kidnapped people in a shop, out of all places? "Why didn't you guys go after them already?" She was scared for Anna, and Joy. She hoped none of them had been hurt.
"We wanted to get you," said Daniel is a rush, pacing back and forth worriedly. "How Brian got Joy, I have no idea. He just rang me and told me that he had kidnapped my sister and her friend...a girl named Joy - "
"That motherf*cking asshole," Claire said savagely, shocking Cailyn, and pushed her way past them to where Daniel's car was parked. "I call shotgun," she said, getting into the passenger seat. Daniel and Cailyn quickly followed.
"Shouldn't we tell your mum?" Cailyn asked, buckling her seatbelt quickly.
"No, we can handle it for now," Claire said confidently, but she was nowhere near confident on the inside. Inside, she was hyperventilating.
Daniel drove as fast as lightning to the shopping centre - he had been loaned a car because he was taking his driving lessons (he was nearly seventeen after all) but the law was that an experienced driver had to be sitting in the passenger seat to watch him. Claire was nowhere near a qualified driver. If they were caught by the police, they were in big trouble.
When they parked, they raced inside the shop so fast passerby stared at them weirdly and one elderly lady muttered something about crazy gangster teenagers. Claire ignored her.
"Where are they?" Daniel yelled frantically.
Cailyn rounded on him in panic. "You don't know?"
"That d*ckhead didn't tell me anything about the location!"
"Oh my God," said Cailyn, running her hands through her hair; a habit of hers when she was stressed.
"You guys do realise this is a trap," Claire said slowly. "and when we find Brian he will hurt Daniel - or the rest of us."
Daniel looked grim. "If he ever attacks, I'll hold him back. You guys just get my sister and Joy and run like hell is chasing you. Okay?"
"I don't like it," Cailyn said immediately. "He can hurt you badly."
"Look, can we have this hero conversation later? We have to find them!" Claire yelled, her voice cracking.
"Um, are you guys looking for two girls, by any chance?"
The three of them turned to see an unfamiliar boy with glasses stare at them.
"Kevin?" Cailyn said incredulously. The boy nodded.
That name rang a bell...the guy that Caitlin had called Kirito all the time and she had wanted to meet him when Cailyn and Anna took her to Cailyn's school fete. That guy.
