Caitlin's jaw dropped open when she saw how much stuff Leanne and Claire had brought together to the movie night and how little Anna had. Leanne and Claire literally had four cushions, two blankets, two sets of pyjamas for spare clothes, and a bunch of sweets and who knows what else in the bag that Claire was carrying. As for Anna, she just had a pillow and chocolate. But this time, she and Caitlin weren't wearing the same pyjamas.
Leanne made a face at her Slipknot pyjamas.
"What?" Caitlin protested. She couldn't be bothered to get up and hug Leanne; she was lying down and was way too lazy.
"Nothing," Leanne sighed. She was wearing purple pyjamas with cupcakes all over them. It was a funny sight.
Anna was in periwinkle blue pyjamas while Claire was in red.
Tonight was the night of their school year level movie night and since Caitlin had arrived first, she'd saved seats for them near the back, which Leanne complained about, but Caitlin refused to move.
Leanne lay down next to Caitlin. Claire sat cross-legged on her other side and Anna knelt down next to Leanne.
"Can I ask why you brought so much stuff?" Caitlin asked.
"Her fault, not mine," said Leanne, pointing accusingly at Claire.
"It was your mum's idea to pack all this," Claire objected.
"But you agreed with it," replied Leanne.
Claire rolled her eyes. "I was only being nice."
Caitlin covered her ears. "If you guys are going to argue, please do it where I am not in the middle of you two!"
Luckily, both girls stopped. Then Leanne's phone beeped quietly. Her cheeks turned red as if she had been caught doing an illegal thing, which was sort of true. Phones were not allowed at the movie night and if they were, they should be turned off anyway.
Leanne quickly checked the text she had been sent, and as she did, a large smile spread across her face. She let out a small squeal and clutched her phone to her chest as if it was the most important thing in the world. Caitlin wondered what had happened.
"What happened?" Claire asked for her.
"We all got in!" Leanne said - more like shrieked - happily. She was jumping around so much that her phone slipped from her grasp and fell - luckily onto the cushion, otherwise the screen might have cracked.
Anna, who was rearranging her pillow for no apparent reason, frowned. "Got in what?"
"Sarah just texted me and told me that everyone in my singing lesson has made it to the second round! We try out again next weekend!" Leanne explained, clasping her hands together.
Caitlin remembered the girl named Sarah; she was the girl who Caitlin had competed with at the tennis competition. She remembered how happy Leanne had been when Caitlin had bet her. "I thought you hated Sarah."
"Me too, but she seems to be turning over a new leaf."
"Be careful," Claire warned. "People who change their personalities so suddenly like that without an explanation are people to watch. They always have a secret purpose."
Caitlin exchanged glances with Anna, who rolled her eyes.
The next person to arrive was Rufina, and she literally chucked her pillow down next to Claire, scaring her a little, but enough to make Leanne and Caitlin notice.
"You aren't going to sit next to me?" Anna questioned, offended.
"Nope," said Rufina, grinning.
