Maybe it wasn't the best idea to answer the door to one of your best friends when you were still in your pyjamas.

When the doorbell rang, Leanne flung open the door as widely as possible, grinning as she met Caitlin's eyes. The latter was dressed in a black dress with matching tights and a white jumper on top. Her light brown hair was newly cut, and it now just brushed the tops of her shoulders. It was about the normal length of Claire's hair, Leanne noticed.

"Leanne! Happy birthday!" Caitlin passed the girl her present and reached forward for a hug, but at the last minute, she stopped and frowned. "Are you in pyjamas?"

Leanne's cheeks coloured and she self-consciously wrapped her arms around herself. She was wearing a simple grey shirt with shorts, they weren't exactly pyjamas, but they weren't exactly the most decent pieces of clothing around either. "You are in a dress," was the only comeback she could think of.

Caitlin shrugged. "True. But seriously, put some clothes on."

"I am wearing clothes!"

"Put proper clothes on." A year ago, if someone had told Leanne that Caitlin would willingly wear dresses and be so careful about what she wore, she would've laughed her ass off. But now, things were different. Caitlin was still obsessed with Osu!, but she'd changed from being less emo to slightly more girly.

Maybe she felt influenced from the many different girly-like outfits that she'd seen Leanne in before the latter had performed at her concerts. It had been nearly a year since Leanne had won the national singing competition, and the months that had gone by had been busy with preparing for the concerts that came afterwards. Black Butterfly was still her best song.

Now, Caitlin held up something large and rectangular in her hands. "I brought my laptop," she added, smirking.

"Of course you did," Leanne deadpanned, rolling her eyes. Where would Caitlin be without her laptop?

Caitlin either didn't hear her sarcasm, or she decided to ignore it. "I'm fourth in the world now. I need to make sure no one steals my rank." Spoken like a true gamer. "You know, Claire gave up on Osu!..."

Leanne raised an eyebrow, reaching around Caitlin to shut the door behind her. "She gave up like half a year ago."

Her friend pouted, her short brown hair swishing from side to side. "If only she continued! She could've been so good!"

"Does it look like Claire and gaming go together?" Like Caitlin, Claire's personality and hobbies hadn't really changed. Caitlin was still a gamer, and Claire was still a nerd.

"Anything is possible!" Caitlin protested.

Just at that moment, Tommy decided to pop his head around the corner of the wall. "Yo."

Leanne absolutely freaked out and let out a scream. "What the hell? How did you get here?" When James also came into view behind Tommy, Leanne felt like groaning from both annoyance and embarrassment. "Why did I invite them again?" she mumbled to Caitlin.

Her friend's smirk grew. "Guess you just really wanted your boyfriend to be there at your sweet sixteen."

Leanne cringed at the words. Yes, a year later, and she was still dating Tommy. "I am so old." She was the only sixteen year old in the room; being older than most - if not all - of her friends. In fact, Caitlin had just recently turned fifteen not that long ago.

It turned out that James and Tommy had come through the back door from entering via the garage. They'd been to Leanne's house so many times in the past year that Leanne's mother was comfortable letting them in when her daughter was still in pyjamas.
