2 ∞ mint mojito
"I don't know what it was. It was like I had all time in the world to catch the ball," Scott told Stiles and Lily as they trudged through the woods. She tried to jump to avoid a stream but failed, glad that she'd worn her combat boots as they were pretty waterproof. Scott was currently explaining how he'd managed to be as good during practise as he'd been after Lily had joked about him being on steroids - which in turn had been placed in her mind after Jackson had ranted to her through text demanding to know how Scott had gotten so great.
"Hmm, maybe it's like an advanced form of steroids?" she suggested, completely joking. She knew that Scott wouldn't even be able to locate steroids - let alone take them. He was an innocent little lamb.
She was ignored as he continued, "And that's not the only weird thing. I can hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things."
Lily's eyebrows raised in curiosity and disbelief. "Smell things? Like what?" Stiles asked.
"Like the mint Mojito gum in Lily's pocket," Scott said, causing Lily's eyes to widen. She tried to put on the most innocent expression she could as her brother gave Scott a disbelieving look, his hands shuffling through his own pockets - expecting to find the gum.
"Lily doesn't even have any mint Mojito, I'm the one who bought-" Stiles told him, pausing when he couldn't find it and looking up at Lily with disappointment and betrayal, "You stole my gum?"
Huffing, she pulled the gum out of her pocket, handing it to him sheepishly, "And I would've gotten away with it too if weren't for you meddling kids."
He didn't appreciate her reference. "I offered to buy you some this morning and you said no," he whined.
Wanting to change the conversation before Stiles began asking for her to pay him back for the gum or buy him a new pack, Lily looked to Scott, reverting the conversation back to his current symptoms that were beginning to seem supernatural, "So this all started with the bite?"
Stiles understood where she was going with it the moment she said it, giving her an excited look while Scott frowned, contemplating the implications of the bite and what could have caused him to become like this. "What if it's like an infection?" Scott asked them, "Like my body's flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something?"
"You know what?" Stiles responded suddenly, "I actually think I've heard of this." Lily raised an eyebrow, confused as to what it could be that she'd never heard about it. She was thinking along the lines of Scott being a werewolf but maybe Stiles had an actual, more logical disease he was thinking of. "It's a specific kind of infection," Stiles continued, his voice serious. Glancing at her brother, she noticed the mischievous look in his eyes.
"Are you serious?" Scott stopped walking, seeming to panic.
"Yeah," Stiles nodded, "Yeah, I think it's called lycanthropy."
Understanding completely, Lily had to hold back her laughter. This was Stiles after all; you could always count on him to be sarcastic and jokey. She decided to join in, unable to resist after seeing Scott's nervous glance, "Oh, I've heard of that too. It's the worst."
"But only once a month," Stiles added seriously. Lily was finding it really difficult to restrain her laughter as Scott got more and more worried about his infection.
"Once a month?"
"Mmm-hmm, on the night of a full moon," Stiles said and sharing a knowing look with Lily, they both howled like wolves in unison, laughing as Scott finally got the joke. Scott only huffed at them in annoyance, carrying on their trek through the woods. Lily and Stiles followed, still laughing to themselves as Stiles said, "Hey, man hey, you're the one who said you heard a wolf howling."
