30 ∞ thinking out loud

Lily followed Scott as he sniffed the air, opening her mouth several times to try and tell him what a bad idea. Each time she ended up closing her mouth and shaking her head, how do I explain that I let my teen hormones control me for long enough to canoodle with Derek? It was when they got to the doors that led to the field that she finally grabbed his arm, frowning, "I don't think bringing me along is a good idea."

Scott furrowed his eyebrows, "Why not? I smelt him all over you that night at the swimming pool, didn't something happen?"

She blushed slightly exclaiming, "Yes – that's the reason you shouldn't bring me along. I don't think he's very happy with me right now and to be honest, I'm still trying to drop this crush I have on him so-"

"-even if he's upset at you, having you around will help," Scott told her, seeming completely sure with his answer, "He may be angry at you but he doesn't want you to hate him so he'll probably loosen up. Trust me." Lily wanted to point out that her presence at the ice rink hadn't stopped him from beating Scott up but he was already out of the door, marching his way across the field. She groaned, debating whether or not to just ditch him before following him out.

Boyd was the only one on the field, looking over at them intimidatingly. Scott didn't seem to let that bother him as he marched his way to Boyd so Lily tried to not let it affect her, trailing behind him with a lot less confidence in her steps. "I wanna talk to Derek," Scott announced as they got in front of Boyd, his voice determined.

"Talk to me," Boyd replied, meeting them in the middle.

Scott shook his head, snapping, "I don't want to fight."

"Good," Boyd smirked, "Cause I'm twice the size of you."

Lily looked up at Boyd, taking in his height and his width and gulping, "He's not exaggerating. He could probably eat you whole if he wanted." Both Scott and Boyd looked at her as though she was weird, ignoring her comment and continuing with their confrontation. Why do people always ignore my comments when I'm completely right?

"That may be true," Scott said, "But you wanna know what I think? I'm twice as fast." With that, he lunged for Boyd, throwing the bigger boy down on the floor. They wrestled a little and Lily was about to step in when Scott got back up, putting some distance between him and Boyd. It seemed they were both getting control of themselves when Derek spoke, appearing from nowhere.

"She failed the test," he stated, surprisingly both Lily and Scott. He must have made his way over while Scott and Boyd wrestled.

"I am so glad I don't have sudden death syndrome," Lily thought out loud, clutching her heart in surprise. Yet again, she was ignored as Scott tried to convince Derek. Lily definitely wasn't going to be any help as she couldn't even look at him without having the urge to either passionately make out with him or run in the other direction. Neither would be helpful. Actually, I could probably keep him distracted until everyone else finds out who the real Kanima is. Lily shook her head to get that thought out of her mind – it was a terrible idea.

"Yeah, which doesn't prove anything," Scott argued, "Lydia's different."

"I know," Derek smirked, "At night, she turns into a homicidal walking snake."

Lily rolled her eyes, standing next to Scott and trying to look as confident, "We're not gonna let you kill her."

Derek's eyes locked on hers, briefly flickering with something before his jaw clenched and his eyes went blank. "Who said I was gonna do it?" Lily's mouth gaped open and she shared a look with Scott, both realising the urgency of things. Both of them went to run back to the school but both of them were forced to stop as Boyd lunged forward, knocking Scott to the floor. Lily paused, debating whether or not she could keep going or not.
