20 ∞ musical urges

So what Lily had learned after the hunter attack last night was that nobody was what they seemed. They had thought that Deaton was the Alpha but instead he turned out to be some kind of weird witch doctor – which was way cooler but also completely unexpected. He'd helped Scott and then Scott had proceeded to rush them back to his house in order to find his missing phone so that they could find Derek. Lily couldn't argue with the cause – she also really, really wanted to find Derek so she was helpful but Stiles on the other hand was not.

"Okay, so you lost your phone," Stiles rolled his eyes, "Why don't you just get a new one?"

Scott was scouring across the floors and in drawers, replying, "I can't afford a new one and I can't do this alone. We have to find Derek."

Stiles sighed, "Well, A, you're not alone. You have us and B, didn't Lily just say Derek walked into gunfire? Sounds pretty dead to me."

"That's what you guys thought last time and he turned out alright," Lily scowled.

"And the Argent's plan was to use him to get the Alpha, they're not gonna kill him," Scott added.

"All right," Stiles nodded, "So then just let them do what they're planning, you know? They use Derek to get Peter, problem solved."

"Not if Peter's going after Allison to find Derek! I can't protect her on my own," Scott exclaimed.

"Not to mention," Lily glared at Stiles, "They're probably torturing him and doing terrible things. We can't just leave him with them."

Stiles rolled his eyes, scowling, "Scott lost his phone when him and Derek were fighting. You remember why that started?  He was trying to kill you guys after you interrupted him trying to kill Jackson? Aren't you starting to see a pattern of violent behaviour here?"

Lily sighed, "He wasn't going to kill anyone – I know he wasn't and we're not letting him die."

Stiles groaned, "Could you at least think about letting him die? For me?"

Just as she was about to push her brother off the bed, Scott shushed them, announcing that his Mom had just gotten home from work. Both twins went silent, watching him as they waited for more information. He seemed to be listening to her so they both stayed quiet, waiting for him to let them know what was happening. The frown on his face made it clear that whatever he was hearing wasn't good. Eyebrows furrowed, Lily asked, "Is she okay? What's she doing?"

Scott hesitated before huffing, "Crying." Neither of them spoke at that, looking down at the ground. What were they supposed to do? Both their dad and Scott's mom seemed to be having a really hard time lately and there was nothing they could do to make it easier; everything they did only seemed to make it worse. Sighing, Scott dropped onto the bed, his shoulders slumped in defeat.

"Scott," Stiles frowned, "You can't protect everyone."

His words were of no reassurance to Scott as he simply frowned in response, muttering, "I have to."

Everyone was buzzing about the formal – everyone. Lily wished she could share in their excitement but she had way more things to worry about; those things including the fact that Derek was still missing, what Peter was planning to do and whether or not she was going crazy. The things she'd seen at the Hale house still plagued her mind and after she'd gotten home, she'd seen a picture of the same little girl in the case file. To say she was freaked out was an understatement but she hadn't told anyone because she still had no idea whether it was some fluke or her being crazy.
