17 ∞ out-of-control besties and stupid crushes

I am such a great friend, Lily thought tiredly as she rubbed her face. To say that the previous night had been hectic would be like saying that Derek Hale was only slightly attractive – a massive understatement. They'd had to outrun both the police and hunters in a car chase that seemed straight out of the movies before circling around to pick Derek up. Lily had gotten pretty quiet with his arrival, still coming to terms with her crush and simply listening as they discussed. They'd found out that their chemistry teacher had something to do with it and that they needed Allison's necklace to figure stuff out. It was safe to say, she'd gotten a small amount of sleep that night and yet she was still sat in the hospital, waiting for Jackson to come out from his appointment. She'd tagged along, partly for moral support – but mostly to make sure that he actually went to the appointment.

For some reason, he still hadn't come out yet so she stood, going further into the hospital and pausing as she saw him sat over a computer, a weird grin on his face. Eyes narrowed, she watched as he rose, walking over to her with the grin still on his face. "What were you doing?" she asked as she followed him back to his Porsche.

Jackson looked at her with a strange look in his eyes, shrugging, "Just looking something up, no big deal." Lily nodded warily, getting into the car and putting her seatbelt on as he turned the engine on. She played with the radio for a while until it came to a station she liked, sitting back and looking at him cautiously.

"How did it go then?" she questioned as he drove.

"He asked me a bunch of random questions, looked at the scab and then gave me my prescription," he told her, though something about what he was saying didn't sound like the whole truth.

"Oh, so it's not serious then?" Lily replied, relieved that he wasn't dying.

"No, just something called Aconite poisoning," he shrugged. Lily's eyebrows furrowed as she felt she'd heard the name of it somewhere. She couldn't figure out where exactly, but she was determined to figure it out, mind racing for the whole ride. It wasn't until Jackson pulled up at school, shut his engine off and turned to her that she realised – it wasn't until he spoke, "You know, another name for Aconite is Wolfsbane."

She was in the process of removing her seatbelt, freezing, "Huh, I never knew." Lily could feel his eyes on her but she didn't look at him, completely removing her seatbelt and picking her bag up as though she wasn't at all bothered by his words. She reached for the handle of the door, exiting the car quickly, not sure whether or not to wait for Jackson. Lily ended up waiting for him as he called to her, his words halting her steps.

"Yeah but you knew about McCall, didn't you?" he accused.

Lily held her breath, turning to face him, "Huh?"

"Don't play dumb, Lily," Jackson frowned, walking towards her. He stopped in front of her, telling her, "I know – I know what he is."

"What is he?" she asked, not wanting give anything away before she knew exactly how much he'd figured out.

"He's a werewolf," Jackson responded without hesitation – he'd definitely made his mind up about it. There was going to be no convincing him otherwise. While Lily felt relief that she longer had to hide it from him and lie, she was also terrified because he was going to be more involved with this than ever before. She knew Jackson – he'd want the bite, he'd want to be able to do what Scott could do and he wouldn't look at the downsides of it all. He must have seen the worry on her face because he continued, "I understand why you didn't tell me – I mean, I'm upset that you didn't but I get it."
