Eyes set on her target, Lily speeded down the hallway, determined to make it before they left. Reaching there in time, she leaned against the locker next to theirs, waiting for them to close their locker door and spot her. Eventually they did, jumping in surprise, "Oh my god, Lily! What the hell?"
"Where have you been, Jackson?" she asked, eyes narrowing on him. He'd literally skipped pretty much every lesson and while he was responding to her texts as normal, he'd been so obviously avoiding her and she needed to find out why. She didn't think she'd properly seen him in person in a while and she missed him. Eyes scanning him, her annoyance fizzled out, her eyebrows furrowing in concern. "Jackson, are you okay?"
He rolled his eyes, "I'm fine."
"You don't look fine," Lily replied. His face was pale, the bags under his eyes had grown larger and he was slightly sweaty. Her mind flashed back to Scott's statement in the locker rooms and wondered if Jackson had been in there at the time – she hoped not. What could have caused Jackson to look so ill?
"Well, I'm fine," he responded, readjusting his bag and rubbing his neck nervously.
"Jackson come on, it's me," Lily told him, "You can tell me." She was starting to feel so frustrated. Why couldn't he see how concerned she was? Why didn't he seem to trust her?
Jackson's eyes clouded over as he thought deeply about something, his neck rubbing increasing. "I'm just having trouble sleeping after the attack," he said. He was lying.
"It's more than that, I can tell," Lily shook her head. Her eyes watched him, appraising his every move. He was still rubbing his neck. Jackson never really rubbed his neck when he was nervous, why had he suddenly picked up the habit? When he didn't reply, she took a step closer, frowning, "What's wrong with your neck?"
His eyes focused quickly as he met hers in panic. Taking a step back, he shook his head, "Nothing, it's fine."
Thinking back, Lily remembered that he'd told her about the Alpha lifting his collar and looking at it. Maybe it was looking at something? Clearly Jackson wasn't telling her the whole truth – and while it was hypocritical for her to be upset about that, his secret was obviously largely damaging his health. "Jackson-" she began but was cut off by the bell.
"Oh, gotta go," Jackson quickly said before running off down the hall. She paused, considering chasing after him but knowing that she had Economics next with Coach and that he wouldn't stand for her being late at all. Sighing, she changed directions, heading to class. She may have been letting him go then but she wasn't going to drop this.

Stiles was crazy. Not only crazy, he was a sadist. How could he not be as his plans to help Scott control himself had led to Scott getting beaten up? Lily had wanted to help but Stiles had insisted that Scott needed to learn control so they'd both sat back and watched while he was beaten up by a bunch of guys. Eventually Mr Harris had broken it up but that of course led to a detention. The only positive about the whole thing was that Scott had control now – he'd found his anchor in Allison who could bring him back when he was losing control. Lily was happy as this meant he didn't have to avoid her and he wouldn't have to be alone. She also wondered who Derek's anchor was or if his anchor was even a person – just out of curiosity of course.
Her detention meant that she'd been unable to get to Jackson before the bell rang and unable to talk to him – which she really, really needed to do. Scott and Stiles had finally made up – which was good and all but was her friend dying? She'd hoped to drive over to his place and corner him there but Scott had come up with a plan to go to the school to save his boss and so now she was driving the jeep into the school parking lot. At least I got to drive, she thought as she hopped out. She hoped that it wouldn't take long so that she could go to Jackson's place afterward.
