26 ∞ drowning in a sea of my emotions

As per usual, the week was kicking itself off with a bang. After making up a huge excuse about the state their father had found them in - they'd basically pinned it all on the hunter which was made believable after the police found out he was pretending to be an officer. They hadn't even been grounded, which was a big surprise but Lily wasn't complaining. Then, they'd gone back to school and Erica Reyes, a quiet girl in Lily's grade, had a seizure while rock climbing. Scott had sensed it and managed to save her in time but it was still jarring.

Even with all that going on, Stiles had planned a night at the ice rink. It was supposed to be a double date with him, Lydia, Scott and Allison but Lily found that she couldn't resist the urge to tag along. It's not like anything would actually happen between him and Lydia anyway. It wasn't like she could have brought a date as well, as bringing Derek along that night didn't sound like the best of ideas.

"Please stop avoiding me," a voice said to her side. She closed the locker door, sending Jackson an exasperated look. "Look, Lily," he began, "Not telling anyone about Isaac and his dad, it was... it was horrible of me - I just... I didn't want to get involved in something like that and I know these are just excuses but I... I just..." Jackson trailed off, an angry look covering his face and he punched the locker.

Lily jumped, grabbing his arm and pulling him away from it, "Whoa there Hulk, what the hell are you doing? Calm down." She could tell this wasn't just about him wanting her to forgive him or him being angry at himself, this was more. Something else was bothering him; she just had no idea what. "What's up with the sudden urge to smash? You never even gave me the chance to shoot your apology down with sarcasm."

Jackson ran his hands through his hair, huffing, "I'm serious."

"And I'm Lily," she smirked, "Nice to meet you, Serious."

"That was bad," he grimaced, "Even for you."

"And that's exactly how I felt when I found out that you sat by as an innocent boy was abused and beaten," Lily frowned, crossing her arms, "You know, I used to think there was a fifty percent chance that you were a sociopath - now it's ninety and that doesn't sit well with me, Jackass."

"I hate that nickname more than I hate Jacky," he rolled his eyes.

She gasped, "You don't hate Jacky. You love that nickname."

"No, I just let it go because it was you," Jackson explained, "Because you're my best friend and best friend's let go of things that bother them for the sake of friendship."

Lily narrowed her eyes at him, "Are you trying to emotionally blackmail me into letting go of the fact that you just might be dead inside?"

"Is it working?" he raised his eyebrows.

"No," she replied, her expression plain.

Jackson huffed, "What can I do then? To make things better?"

"Well, for starters you can try and be better," Lily told him, "I know it's hard for you, since you struggle to feel real human emotions and all but please just try to be a nicer person. I'm not saying you have to smile at every person you walk past or help old ladies across the street but if someone's in danger and needs help then can you just try to do something? Please?"

Jackson clenched his jaw, looking down at the ground before nodding, "Fine."

"Good," she said, readjusting her bag and turning to walk away. Thinking of something, she paused momentarily, "And I'm keeping the nickname, Jackass. It took me way too long to come up with it and I love how much it pisses you off." He scowled in response but she chose to just simply smile at him, "Later, Jackass." Lily could have sworn she heard him mumble something about hating his life but she ignored it, finding her way to the toilet. It wasn't that she needed to pee but more that she just wanted to look at herself. That sounded way less arrogant in my head.
