32 ∞ ahhhhh... freak out!
Things had started going awry the moment they'd reached Danny's car and hadn't managed to find the tablet. Either Jackson or whoever was working with Jackson had taken it. From then on, they'd done their best to look after him – clearly failing as they'd lost him and he hadn't shown back up until they'd gone to the Sheriff's station and found him in their dad's office, with his father all suited up. To say he didn't look pleased as he cast a glance at them, would be a large understatement. Sighing, Lily watched as Jackson and his father left the office, avoiding his eyes the whole time. After that, they'd received the longest lecture from the Sheriff ever before being dismissed. Walking out of the office, Lily paused as she saw Jackson waiting out there. She tried to run back into the office when she heard him speak, "I saw you, Lily. We need to talk."
Lily shared an anxious look with Stiles and Scott before following after Jackson to an empty hallway. Swallowing, she wrung her hands, "The last time you said we needed to talk, you shouted at me."
"You shouted back," he replied.
"You were being an ass," Lily mumbled.
"I'm always an ass," Jackson retorted. Lily didn't reply, biting her lip and preparing for their oncoming argument. She could sense it in the air but that didn't make it any more appealing. "I can't believe you let them lock me up like that," Jackson finally exclaimed. When she didn't reply, he continued, "Lily, this is serious. You left me in there and didn't even come to see me once."
"You were angry at me," she justified, "You didn't want to see me-"
"-you didn't even try," he frowned.
Lily licked her lips, trying to get rid of the dry feeling, "Jackson... it was the only thing we could think of. You're dangerous-"
"-because I turn into a walking snake?" he scoffed.
"Don't pretend like you don't believe us," Lily shook her head, "You know we're right – why else would we do all this?"
"I don't know," Jackson exclaimed, "I don't know anything when it comes to you anymore!"
Lily's breaths were heavy with a mix of anger and frustration. Why couldn't Jackson see that this wasn't personal? That this had nothing to do with her friendship with him and she was just doing her best to keep him from killing people. Obviously, the way they'd gone about it wasn't the best but they were in over their heads – this was beyond anything they'd even dealt with. "Look, all this supernatural stuff is... it's crazy and we're doing our best to deal with it and locking you up... it-it probably wasn't the best idea but we didn't know what else to do," Lily explained, "I just... I was just trying to keep everyone safe – to keep you safe."
"There you go again," Jackson shook his head, "You're always trying to justify things by making it seem like you have my interests at heart but-"
"-that's because I do," Lily cut him off, "Jackson, you're my best friend-"
"-see you always say that, but I don't feel like your best friend, Lily," Jackson breathed, "I haven't for a while now." Lily didn't reply, not sure what to say. She knew that she hadn't been a very good friend to him and she didn't know how to make it up to him. At the same time, she wished he could just consider everything going on and cut her some slack but the look on his face told her he wouldn't.
Breath held and eyes slightly wet, Lily murmured, "I'm sorry, but I don't know what you want me to do." This argument felt much more serious than any of the other ones they'd had.
"Look, just don't worry about it – don't worry about me," Jackson said, "Clearly you have a lot on your plate so you can take me off the list of one of the things to worry about."
