hey everyone, i just wanna thank you again for reading Riddle Me This.

so many of you loved it, and it makes me so happy seeing all of your supportive comments 🥹

i know that if you enjoyed Riddle Me This, you'll love Tom Riddle Sr and Isaurelia Nightlock's story 'Wrong Choice.'

i have attached an excerpt from an early chapter 💞💞...

everyone was in lessons so i made it to the girls bathroom uninterrupted and snuck in easily.

i turned the tap and the entire faucet opened up, revealing the dark stairs.

i lit up my wand and headed down, reaching the vault-like door to the chamber.

i remembered Tom whispering something in a strange language... but what was it?

words were spilling from my mouth before i could comprehend them—a strange, breathy whisper escaping from between my lips.

i blinked as the snakes slid back and the vault opened, revealing the long walkway.

i frowned, stepping through the door and heading towards the pool.

i spotted Tom sat beside the water, books and papers scattered all around him.

"Tom," my voice echoed.

he looked up. "did you speak with Dumbledore?"

"yes," i sat beside him. "i just opened the the vault."

"congratulations."

"no, Tom, i... think i spoke Parseltongue."

his eyes widened slightly.

"i knew-" he cut himself off sharply.

"knew what?"

he shook his head. "i knew there was something different about you."

i had a feeling that wasn't what he was about to say, but let the subject go.

"where's the Basilisk?" i glanced around the Chamber, not seeing the giant snake.

Tom shrugged. "probably out,"

"out?" i raised my eyebrows. "what, did it fancy some fresh air? is it just roaming around the school?"

Tom nodded, then said; "he, not 'it.'"

"you're joking,"

"serpents have genders too, Aura." he raised an eyebrow.

"Tom!"

he leaned back casually. "there are passageways within the walls, that's how the Basilisk gets around if he gets sick of the Chamber."

"how long have the passageways been there?"

he shrugged. "probably since the school was built. they were here when i found the Chamber."

"when was that?"

"at the end of fourth year. i heard the Basilisk and followed the voice down here."

"it speaks?" my brain was about to explode.

"Parseltongue." Tom nodded again.

"Merlin's beard," i pinched the bridge of my nose. "so ever since then you've been sneaking down here?"

"yes."

"what are you actually trying to do, though?"

"open the Chamber," his eyes lit up. "the Basilisk needs to be free."

"and where will it go?"

he shrugged.

"if you've been coming here since fourth year, why haven't you managed to open the Chamber yet?" i pressed.

"i was missing something—something vital."

"what?"

he looked up at me, his eyes shining green. "you."

"me...?" i echoed faintly.

he nodded. "i need you."

my breath caught in my throat as his eyes searched my face.

"say you'll help me, Aura... please."

i swallowed, weighing out my options.

"okay, Tom," i said at last. "i'll help you."
