The sun had fully set by the time we finished building the facade to hide the Merry. The materials we used were garbage, a lot of it being crude canvas to cover the gaps between the shoddy wooden frame Usopp fashioned to mimic the shape and size of a Marine warship.

Despite how flimsy and rushed it looked, Usopp seemed proud of the work we had done, "Well... Whaddaya think, guys? Not bad if I do say so myself! At least we don't have to worry about the Merry getting stolen again, right?"

I frowned as I looked up at the slightly crooked Marine insignia painted on the side, "Glueing paper all over the ship to disguise it... What a great idea."

Sanji shared in my lack of enthusiasm as he sighed, "I don't know, guys. It looks like a three-year-old did it. You think that's gonna fool anyone for very long?"

Luffy seemed optimistic as he grinned, "Yeah, of course it will! It looks just like one of the Marines' warships! No doubt about it!"

"It sure does!" Chopper agreed cheerfully.

I cast them a side eye and huffed, "You're nuts."

Nami was undeterred, "Great! Now all we have to do is get our treasure back! Operation Gold Recovery commences at midnight! Got it?"

"Got it," We all responded to her, some of the crew more excited than the others.

Chopper paused, humming in confusion, "Um, why don't we go right now?"

Luffy turned to him and shrugged, "Well, 'cause super-secret missions are always better at midnight!"

"Oh!" The young boy said, seeming more thrilled, "I get it now!"

Usopp gave them an incredulous look, "Um, you guys are joking, right?"

I closed my eyes and rubbed the back of my head with a sigh, "Morons."

Kaori chuckled as she came up beside me, "Takes one to know one."

I could not help but smirk back at her, "Are you trying to imply that I'm a moron?" I leaned down a bit and lowered my voice, "'Cause you know what happens when you insult me."

My girlfriend surprised me as she bit her lip and softly giggled, "Oh, I know."

I raised an eyebrow at her before I cast a glance over my shoulder at the rest of the crew. The only person looking our way was Robin, and she quickly smiled and turned away once she noticed me looking around. My lip curled into a smirk as I threw my arm around Kaori's shoulder and quietly slipped away with her.

We did not have much time before midnight, so I did not waste a second. As soon as we made it a decent distance along the dock away from the others, I ducked behind one of the steel supports and caged her against it with my arms.
