One thought stuck out clearly in my mind as I lay on the ground under a pile of rubble, "Just how in the hell did this day get so messed up?!"
First was that stupid snake getting me separated from Luffy, Chopper, and Robin. Then, that guerrilla with the flash guns that managed to put a bullet in my leg. Then, that dumb bird followed me around half the jungle to try and eat my lunch, only to swipe my backpack and carry me off to wherever the hell it was going.
To make matters worse, that giant snake from before started chasing us. The bird dropped me, landing me in the clouds amongst some crumbling ruins and right in the middle of someone else's fight.
If that had been the end of it, I would have just considered this a frustrating day to sleep off like a bad hangover. However, things took a sudden turn from annoying to deadly serious when I found Chopper severely wounded and unconscious.
Normally, I would not let my emotions drive me to fight for a motive like revenge, but the rage that consumed me in that moment had me fighting that damned priest harder than I ever would have if I had kept a level head. It led to me perfecting my flying blade attack, the Sanjūroku Pondo Hō. With it, I was able to defeat that priest at a distance and avenge Chopper.
If Chopper being hurt was not bad enough, Nami appeared out of nowhere on a waver with some kid, and they were both swallowed whole by that same snake that had been causing me issues all day. Each time I attempted to rescue her, I was intercepted by one of the Shandorian Warriors, Wyper. He was also trying to take down the snake, but he was being more of a nuisance to me than anything.
Then, to top it all off, the ground beneath my feet exploded with light, and I was sent tumbling down to a layer of island cloud below me. I was fortunate enough to catch Chopper before we hit the ground. As the ruins fell on top of us, I shielded my injured crewmate the best I could, clutching him to my chest as I ducked my head to try not to get hit by a stray rock.
That's how I found myself here, lying on the island cloud with my injured crewmate as the dust settled around us. The young reindeer was still breathing, though raggedly, in his unconscious state. A grimace curled my lip as my various injuries ached or stung, "I can't say a damn thing about being buried alive here. Kaori would never let me hear the end of it."
I could practically see her smug smirk as she taunted me, "That's five times, now swordsman. You really are hopeless, huh?"
I shook my head to rid myself of the imagined mocking, "Alright, enough wasting time. That Shandorian guy and the snake are still out there. Nami needs help," I braced my back against the slab of stone pinning me down and heaved it up. Once I could get my arm out from under me, I shoved the offending rock off my back and propped it up above me as I got my leg up under me to kneel, "This is not my day..."
"Swordsman?!" Robin's startled voice called out to me, "Don't tell me you fell down here with all of this."
With an annoyed grunt, I stood to my feet, fully flipping the slab of ruin over, "Yeah, I did. And it almost killed me."
"I'm amazed it didn't," She replied in an awed tone. She took a step towards me, the concern on her face clear as I saw her gaze flick down to Chopper in my arms, "Are you sure you're alright?"
"Yeah, good to see ya, Robin," There was a sincerity in my voice that even surprised me. After all the hassle of today, I suppose seeing one of my more competent crewmates alive and well was more of a relief than I realised. I sighed as I took in my surroundings for a moment before looking back at her, "Where am I? What is this place?"
