The next three days were a welcome break from all the nonstop crazy adventures. The sailing was smooth, barring one strange two-minute blizzard and a Sea King attack that restocked our food stores.
Kaori and I were becoming much more comfortable being together around the crew. We were not being obnoxious with PDA or anything like that. It was little things, like sitting next to each other at meals or me using her lap as a pillow when I napped on the deck.
Of course, we took plenty of opportunities to try and steal a few private moments, too. If I felt like no one was looking, I would whisper in her ear to make sure I had her attention before copping a feel just to make her squeak or jump. There was a lot more physical contact during our training together, even if it was just laying a hand on the other's shoulder or knee while helping with form or spotting. We would slip into the cannon room for a few minutes alone whenever we were feeling like getting a little more than just a kiss, but those moments were less common.
It was honestly pretty annoying how rarely I was able to get my hands on my own girlfriend. However, with six other people around at all times, it was just too risky for us to get caught.
We got away with it the other night because it was my turn on night shift. The past few nights, the rest of the guys had been back to their normal rotation, "Me, Usopp, Chopper, then the cook. Luffy never takes watch cause he just falls asleep. The girls never take watch because Nami insists on it. And Kaori can't take watch cause she's blind. That means our only chance to have the Crow's Nest to ourselves is every four nights. What a pain."
I opened my eyes and looked up at Kaori from where I lay on her lap. She was idly toying with my earrings as she was dozing off against the railing. Her head was leaning back, and my eyes trailed down from her face to her neck. The urge to pull her down to kiss or bite her grew to the point that more dirty thoughts started popping into my mind, "Every four days isn't enough."
I reached over my shoulder and gently squeezed her thigh, "Kaori."
"Hm?" She lifted her head a bit, tilting her ear towards me.
I slid my hand a bit further up her thigh toward her hip as I kept my voice low, "What are the chances I can get you alone for an hour?"
My girlfriend's lip curled into that bashful grin that she always got when she was flustered. She pivoted to being coy, "You mean tonight?"
"No," I answered with a low growl and a smirk, "I mean now."
Her blush deepened as she ducked her head a bit, "Bär, it's barely noon. The others will definitely notice we're missing."
I knew she was right, but the temptation outweighed the risk in my eyes. I rolled onto my side, facing her, and wrapped my arm around her back, "So what? They don't have to know what we're doing."
