Chapter 55: Spa Day

The log pose reset in a matter of hours and we left the small island behind to continue our journey. The Going Merry cut across the smooth waves as the midmorning sunlight warmed my face. I was leaning against the portside railing on top of the cabin. Nami asked me to keep her company as she tended her tangerine trees. Robin sat nearby, quietly sitting in a lounge chair with what I assumed to be a book in her hands. Sanji was beneath us in the kitchen, preparing cool drinks for us. Luffy and Usopp were fishing off the starboard side of the deck and having little luck with how quickly the ship was moving. The steady clang of Zoro's weights rang out from the rear deck as he did his morning workout.

I leaned my head back with a bored sigh as I soaked up the sunlight against my neck. Nami must have heard me because she let out a disgruntled and insulted huff, "You know I'm not holding you hostage here. If you wanna go do something else, just go do it."

I merely frowned at the navigator's voice, "You asked me to keep you company, but you haven't said a word since you started weeding," I shrugged as I gestured toward the tiny grove, "I'd offer to help, but I don't want to mess something up and have you snap at me and put some ungodly fine on my head."

Nami let out a long sigh as she stood up and walked over to stand next to me, "Guess I can't argue that," She leaned against the railing and I sensed her wipe her forehead with the back of her hand, "Gardening is nice and all, but toiling over these trees stresses me out sometimes."

I gave her a half-hearted chuckle as I shook my head, "Maybe you should take a break and relax for a while."

My crew mate hummed in thought before her voice took on a gleeful note, "Hey, that's actually a great idea!" My brow narrowed in confusion as she continued, "We could all use a little R'n'R. Why not treat ourselves to a little spa day?"

I frowned at her with an incredulous tone in my voice, "You think we're gonna find a spa out here in the Grand Line?"

"Anything is possible, Kaori," Nami dismissed my question with a playful tone, "We just have to find an inhabited island somewhere close by."

Robin hummed thoughtfully, "If memory serves, the next island on our route does have a natural hot spring that was established as a resort of sorts."

"Perfect!" Nami nearly squealed in delight.

I got to my feet and shook my head, "Nami, come on. We just left a quiet island. Do you really think this is necessary?"

"Of course, it's necessary. The last island was quiet, but it didn't have a spa," She retorted before she walked purposefully toward the stairs near the back of the cabin, shouting out to Usopp as she headed for the front deck.

I let out another sigh and crossed my arms, "This is gonna be a disaster. I just know it."

"Laaand Hooo!!!" Usopp's voice cried out from the crow's nest. I turned to the sniper with mild curiosity and set my weight down on the rack. I snatched up my towel and wiped the thin layer of sweat that built up on the back of my neck and across my chest and lower ribs. With the cloth over my shoulders, I made my way to the front of the deck with the others.

Sure enough, there was a decently sized, mountainous island ahead of us and we were approaching it quickly. Nami was standing up by the bow wearing a pink t-shirt and tan shorts. Robin was standing beside her wearing a purple shirt with a diamond pattern on it with dark blue slacks. Kaori leaned against the railing on the other side of Nami with a yellow tank top and jeans that were a little too long for her legs. Luffy was sitting atop the figurehead.

As I joined my crewmates at the railing, Sanji sauntered up to the girls from behind with a platter in his hand holding three glasses of rose-colored beverages, "Can I interest you, fine ladies, with a refreshing drink?"
