Jessica

Slipping out of the last clutches of sleep, I was almost afraid to open my eyes. Hoping that the past months of running and then being found by Klaus last night was just a nightmare, I slowly opened my eyes. At first I didn't recognize my surroundings and immediately sat up alarmed but as I scanned the room, recognizing it now as the one Klaus had so generously given me, I shut my eyes once more and put my hands to my head. It hadn't been a nightmare after all.

Lowering my hands, I swung my legs off the bed and sat on the edge of it thinking about what everyone else was probably doing. Amelia, I guessed, was probably still at the Salvatore house trying to find a way to free me from Klaus. Though I knew she didn't trust the Salvatore's much, especially Damon, I assumed that she still was allying with them. And how were Elena and Bonnie? I hadn't heard much about how they were even before I was nabbed by Klaus. I didn't even let myself think about my old life. My family. My friends. It would upset me too much to reminisce about them. If they were going to be safe and unaffected by any of this vampire, hybrid stuff, then I had to forget about them. I couldn't go back no matter how much I wanted too. They were safer without me. Yet it didn't make me miss them any less.

Standing, my toes sank into the soft carpet. I cast another glance about the room and noticed that there was a note taped on the closet door. Crossing the room to it, I pulled it off the door.

A gift to help gain your affection.
                                                                    ~ Klaus

Curious and a bit bewildered I pulled open the closet door and stared at all the clothing, shoes and accessories stored within it. Stepping inside it and going through some of it I saw that every kind of clothing I may want was in here. There was everything from jeans and shorts to sundresses and full out evening gowns. None of it looked cheap either. Most of the name brands were some I had heard of but never could afford.

"Seriously?" I scoffed, crumpling the note in my hand and tossing it up on one of the high shelves off to one side of the closet. I knew what this was. He was trying to buy my affection. What he didn't know was that it wasn't going to work.

Turning away I walked out of the closet then hesitated. I didn't want to have to use the 'gift's Klaus had given me, but it didn't seem like I had any other option. My suitcase was back at the Salvatore house so I had none of my clothes other than the ones that I wore now. With a huff, I went back into the closet. I traded the jeans I wore for a pair of black shorts. My blue top with the lacy back I replaced with a sleeveless tiered red top with a jeweled neckline. Slipping out of my boots, I pulled on short heeled open toe black boots. Exiting the closet and shutting the door behind me, I went into the bathroom to wash my face and run a brush through my hair. After pulling small sections of my hair on either side of my face back and securing it behind my head with a clip, I was done.

A knock sounded on my door so with a mix of apprehension and hesitancy, I went over to it and after taking a calming breath opened it. A man that I hadn't seen before stood there. He was a bit taller than me with honey color hair and hazel eyes. Definitely another hybrid.

"What do you want?" I demanded to know with an annoyed air.

He looked me over and gave me a halfhearted smirk that in no way was comparable to Damon's. "Klaus wanted me to tell you that breakfast is ready for you downstairs."
