Damon

"That was our last option and you are telling me that you don't know what was in it or where it is?" I asked incredulously.

"The last thing that I remember is seeing the coffin lid starting to open on its own." Amelia retorted.

"Well whatever or whoever was in there are gone. We will have to come up with a different solution of getting rid of Klaus." Stefan said before turning away.

I could hear his progress back through the tunnels. However my focus was on that beautiful but stubborn woman.

"Except us. We," I pointed my finger from myself to Jessica. "are going to get you the hell out of Dodge."

Jessica returned my glare with one of her own and defiance was evident in her tone as well as her stance. "I told you Damon. I'm not going anywhere."

Aggravation ate at me. If it wasn't for the barrier I would have strode inside the cave, grabbed her, put her in the car and hightailed it out of here. I couldn't understand why she was willing to risk staying. Klaus knew where she was and could come get her any time he wanted. After all hadn't she even admitted earlier that she was glad to have gotten away from him? Even though she was tired of running it still was a better choice than staying. Yet from that determined and set look in her emerald green eyes, I could sense that she wasn't going to be intimidated by me nor listen to my reason for us to leave.

"Alright." I stated in a low, peeved tone while widening my eyes for emphasis. "If you want to stay here and be an easy target for Klaus, so be it."

I turned about and took several strides but when I didn't hear her footsteps coming behind me, I halfway turned back. I gestured with two fingers for her to come. "The car is this way."

"I'm going to give them a ride home." Bonnie declared, only adding more aggravation that Jessica wasn't even going to ride back to the house with me.

After sweeping my gaze from each of their faces and recognizing the sense that the other three were going to side with Jessica in that often times annoying, un-convenient way females do, I turned away and made my way down the dark tunnels alone. Outside Stefan stood next to my car. Approaching the driver's door, I darted a look his way.

"You up for some drinks at the Grill?" I asked wanting someone to drown my aggravations with.

Stefan barely nodded his head. "After this night of course."

The two of us slid into my car and we headed for town. Thankfully Stefan didn't try to have a 'talk' like he usually does so the ride was made in blessed silence. When we got to the Grill we took our usual seats at the bar and I ordered my usual.

"You know that is a reason you and Jessica usually get along so well. You are both alike in several ways." Stefan commented, darting a look over at me before looking back to his glass. "So when you come to odds, neither one of you are going to back down." He raised his glass and downed some of the alcohol.

"Thank you for that eye opener Stefan but that topic isn't up for discussion." I sarcastically remarked. Of course I should have known that he would bring that up. Leave it to Stefan to want to discuss what I wanted to bury.
