Damon
"Evening Carol." I crossed the front foyer of the Original Family's, not so humble, abode and stopped before her. I leaned in towards her and lowered my voice now when I spoke. "I thought it went against council policy to welcome vampire's into town."
"When you have the oldest family of vampires move in, policy is subject to change." Carol raised her champagne glass and took a sip before lowering it.
"As long as you know who your neighbors are." I remarked in a warning manner.
"They've assured me that they want peace and I've assured that I'll enforce it." Carol added.
"Mayor Lockwood I presume."
The guy who approached and took Carol's hand was someone I recognized. It was one of the sons of the Original family, Klaus's younger brother.
"Yes and you are?" Carol asked politely.
"Kol Mickelson." He gave her a smile that was meant to charm Carol but I recognized the smile for what it was. It was the same sort of arrogant yet meant to charm grin that I'd often used myself.
"Damon Salvatore." I extended my hand to him to exchange a hand shake if not only for the appearance of being civil then also for the fact that since he seemed to despise his brother as much as I did, he might be an ally of sorts. "Haven't we met?"
Kol seemed to think. "I tend to remember the people that I've previously met and you don't particularly stand out."
He shot me a smug smirk before striding past me and into the other room, completely ignoring my extended hand.
Several choice words about that vampire passed through my mind and I was tempted to seek him out and confront him but the entrance of four girls coming through the front doors stopped me short.
The first two to enter where Caroline and Elena. I had to admit that dressed in that gold and black ball gown, Elena was beautiful. If Jessica had never come along I definitely would have further pursued a relationship with Elena, however that was not the case. Elena was no longer my focus. And as Elena moved aside and let a woman take her shawl for her to put up till she would leave later that night, I caught sight of Jessica, with Amelia at her side. To say the least Jessica was stunning in the royal blue ball gown that she wore. The jeweled neckline sparkled as well as the jeweled design on her right hip. The dress fit her form perfectly and she was a sight to behold. I couldn't take my eyes off of her.
From out of the room to my left, Stefan emerged and apparently having witnessed the four's arrival too, he made his way over to them. As I started to make my own way over to them, I overheard Caroline say that she was going to go find Matt before she moved off apart from them and went into the room that Stefan had just come out of.
I strode directly up to Jessica, admiring her beauty still as I approached her. She caught sight of me and met my gaze as I stopped before her. "You look exquisite Jessica."
"Thank you Damon." She bestowed me with a pretty smile and her gaze roved over me, taking in my own appearance. "You look very dashing yourself."
