A/N: This took a little longer than expected. My apologies. I hope you enjoy.
Trigger Warning: there is talk of morning sickness and nausea, but no visual description of someone being sick.
Her knuckles went white as she gripped the side of the basin, a wave of dizziness washing over her, 'Reece' she tried to call out but it was barely above a whisper, and she felt her legs buckle before his familiar hands caught her softly and carried her back to the bed.
'Marjorie,' Reece gently stroked the side of her face that looked so pale after she had spent the last hour being sick in the bathroom. 'Have one of the tablets the doctor gave you', and he placed it under her tongue, but she didn't open her eyes.
Reece felt his phone vibrate and he pulled Marjorie in to lie on his chest. The brunette curled herself in as small as she could before another wave of nausea washed over her and she tried to focus on the tablet dissolving under her tongue, willing it to work.
Time to take her to hospital Reece. She will be dehydrated and that will only make the vomiting worse
He stood up, Marjorie cradled in his arms, 'Come on gorgeous. Viv says it's time to take you to hospital,' the woman wanted to protest, but she was too weak, 'Mmm,' was the only response. Reece grabbed her coat and draped it over her when he placed her in the car. The past two weeks had been a constant effort to try and get ahead of Marjorie's morning sickness. An early scan had given them a due date, November 7th.
Marjorie had gotten to 8 weeks before realising she was pregnant and until recently the morning sickness had occurred on and off, but now Marjorie was fifteen weeks and was barely given a break from being sick.
Reece looked at her and noticed how pale she was, how she was thinner. It made his stomach turn in fear that something more was wrong than simply morning sickness. As the brunette opened her eyes to try and smile at him, he smiled back trying to keep the worry of his face.
'Stop that Knight. I know that look. I'll be fine and so will the baby,' there it was, Marjorie didn't miss anything. To her, Reece was an open book and she would always be there to support him, even when she could barely open her eyes.
Coming into emergency now
Reece sent a message to Viv so she wouldn't worry as he carried Marjorie in the hospital emergency doors.
'Come through here Mr Knight,' the nurses familiar voice made him look up from Marjorie in surprise as Vivian ushered him through the waiting room into the ward.
'Viv, I didn't realise you were working, thank you,' Reece gently placed Marjorie down on the bed and she felt her stomach lurch, but there was nothing left in her to be sick.
'I finished an hour ago but told Bon I wanted to wait until Marjorie was feeling better,' the nurse gently brushed Marjorie's hair from her eyes and let her know they were going to give her some fluids and medicine to help her feel better. Her warmth and kindness instantly helping the brunette to feel peaceful and safe.
Once they had the drip set up and Marjorie had stopped heaving, Vivian called Reece into the hall. 'She's lost weight Reece,' the nurses face looked concerned momentarily, ' 'Marjorie has hyperemesis gravidarum. It's a severe form of morning sickness that some women get. She may need to stay in for a night or two. One of the OB's will come down and they may prescribe steroids to help with weight gain, and she will go for a scan later to check on the baby, but that's just a precaution, that we would always do'.
'Viv,' Reece had so many questions he wanted to ask, fears he wanted her to alleviate, but he knew that was unfair. The nurse placed a hand on his shoulder, her eyes kind. She was their friend. 'Hyperemesis may stay the whole pregnancy,' Reece couldn't imagine her this sick the whole pregnancy and he swallowed hard, feeling guilt for her having to go through it, 'But,' Viv could see the blonde spiralling, 'it may not last that long and there are things we can do to help her manage it. She could need regular hospital visits and stays,' Reece was taking it all in, trying to think ahead and plan and looked back towards Marjorie. 'Go back in and be with her,' Viv gave the blonde's hand a reassuring squeeze.
