Jesse's POV:
It was a chilly October morning when I walked to the mess hall at the base here in Kapul, Afghanistan. We were preparing for a raid when all of the sudden, my CO called me into his office.
CO: We've decided you need to go home.
Me: Home as in where?
CO: Commander McGarrett still doesn't know about you, does he?
Me: No, sir.
CO: Well he's going to find out. You're on the flight to Honolulu in an hour. Pack your bags and get ready. We told him we need him and his task force to secure a package from that flight. That package is you.
Me: Yes, sir. When may I come back, sir?
CO: I'm not sure. You may be the best sniper we have, but you have never in your 6 years of service been home.
Me: Yes sir.
CO: Private Carson and Commander Williamson will be accompanying you.
Me: Ok, sir.
CO: Oh and Lieutenant McGarrett?
Me: Yes, sir?
CO: Take care of yourself.
Me: Will do, sir.
I walked from the office toward my tent. I packed what little belongings I had and went to where the car was waiting to take us to the base airport. The 2 men who were to accompany me were already there. We got in the car and rode for about 10 minutes. When we arrived, we got immediately onto the plane. The whole way there, I thought of all the unsent letters to my brother, Steve. He didn't know about me. Neither did my dad, John. But John was killed. My mom, Doris, told me that just after she faked her death, she found out she was pregnant. She never told John or Steve or Mary. She left me with a friend in Texas when I turned 9. It's amazing that I still remembered that. After all, it's been 18 years. I knew everything there was to know about my brother and my family. I sat wondering whether he would be mad that he didn't know, sad he had missed out on 27 years of my life, or if he would be happy. I drifted off into a dreamless sleep and was awakened by the screech of the brakes on the plane. We touched down at Honolulu International Airport. Me and the fellow soldiers collected our belongings and headed outside.
Steve's POV:
Danny, Kono, Chin, Catherine, Grover, and I sat outside of Honolulu International waiting for the package we were to secure for the Navy. Finally, 3 people in uniform walked toward us. I stepped forward as the 3 approached me. I gave the salute. They saluted back.
Commander Williamson: Commander McGarrett?
Steve: Yes.
Commander Williamson: We have your package to secure. But I'm warning you, this may be a different package than you think.
Steve: All due respect, Commander, but my team has a case and we need to get moving so could you please give us the package?
Jesse's POV:
I stared down at my feet as Commander Williamson and Private Carson looked at me.
Me: The package is me, Commander.
Steve: You mean to tell me that my team and I stopped an important case to come down here just to make sure you arrived?
Me: Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jesse McGarrett. My mom, Doris, faked her death. After that she found out she was pregnant. She never told my dad, John, who was killed by Victor Hesse, who was under the orders of Wo Fat, about me. I have 2 siblings: you and Mary Ann. You're the head of the Five-0 task force. Your force consists of Detective Danny Williams, a divorced Jersey native who hates Hawaii, Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly, who was wrongly accused of stealing money from the asset forfeiture locker, Kono Kalakaua, Chin's cousin, and Lou Grover, an ex SWAT captain from Chicago. Also there's Lieutenant Catherine Rollins, who just recently returned from a rogue op in Afghanistan to save a local village from the Taliban.
Steve: You're lying.
Me: Want a DNA test?
Steve: It's not possible ok! You're lying to me!
Me: Well how about calling the mother you never talk to!
Steve gets up in my face.
Steve: Are you disrespecting me? Do you really think you can come to my island and disrespect me? Some nerve you have!
I clench my jaw.
Me: Think what you want to think! I don't care! You're just-
Steve cuts me off.
Steve: Commander? Do something about your Lieutenant.
Commander Williamson: She's no longer under my command. There's nothing I can do. Now if you'll excuse us, we have a plane to catch.
The commander and the private walked away, leaving me with Steve and his team.
Steve: You have to be kidding me! They're leaving me with this psychopath who claimed to be my sister! This is a waste of time.
Catherine walks up to Steve. Steve, I reached out to my military contacts and she's telling the truth.
Steve: Catherine! Really? You're not helping my case at all!
Catherine: I'm not the only one who believes her. Ask them.
Catherine motioned toward the team.
Steve looked back at them.
Steve: So everyone is talking the side of some random stranger instead of mine?
Catherine: Steve, we're not asking you to do anything more than consider it.
Steve: No I won't consider it.
While no one is looking, I take a sprint toward a taxi. I dig what money I have from my bag and hand it to the cab driver. Just as I'm about to open the taxi door, a hand grabs my arm. As tears flow down my face, I turn to see that everyone except Steve has come over to where I'm standing. The person holding onto my arm is an attractive, short, blonde guy, who I assumed was Danny.
Danny: Look we all know that Steve can be a little, well, too aggressive. But it's just hard for him to comprehend right now.
Me: Look, I don't have time to site here and argue about whether we're siblings or not. I was put on suspension from the aNavy for failing to go to a home where there's nothing but a hateful brother there. I can't deal with this so let me go.
Danny: I don't even know you and I already can tell you're a McGarrett. You're stubborn and tough. Now let's go get a DNA test.
Me: Oh really? And when it comes back positive, he'll hate me no less than he does now.
I jerked out of his grip and got into the cab.
Driver: Where to, miss?
Me: The best bar in town.
