Washington

Finally we landed in Washington. We had a friend of mine meet us there with a car to use on the trip.

Me: How much do I owe you?

Friend: Nothing. I owe you one. You saved my butt that day when that Taliban group attacked.

Me: Well still. Here ya go.

I handed him a $100 bill.

Friend: Jesse I can't take this. I promise it's fine. Plus you'll need it. You're going on a trip around the country. You'll definitely need that money.

Me: Thanks.

We hugged then Danny and I climbed in. The truck my friend had given us was the same as Steve's except silver. Danny walked toward the driver's side.

Me: Whatcha doin'?

Danny: Getting in the truck.

Me: Have you ever driven a truck before?

Danny: Yes as a matter of fact a truck was my first vehicle thank you very much.

Me: Maybe you should let me drive.

Danny rolled his eyes.

Me: What? I get very sick unless I'm the one driving.

Danny: Unbelievable! You're just like Steve! He said those exact words to me! And if you get "sick" when your not driving, then how were you on a SHIP that you weren't driving in the Navy?

Me: Well that's different.

He rolled his eyes. He smoothed back loose strands of my hair and tucked them behind my ear. Then he began kissing me passionately.

Me: Does this mean I can drive?

We laughed at the same time and he got into the driver's seat. I climbed into the passenger side and we began driving toward our first stop: the Seattle Space Needle. I was so excited. Finally we arrived, but it began to thunder. Then came the lightening. The space needle was shut down for the day. I was so mad.

Danny: Well there's other things we can do.

Me: Like what?

Danny: Well we can go check into the hotel suite and get in the jacuzzi for a while.

Me: Ok sounds good to me.

Danny drove us to the hotel. It was a nice one, the Hilton. We checked in and brought our luggage up to the room. When we opened the door to the room, my mouth dropped. It was huge! There was a jacuzzi inside and another outside in a screened in porch. We put on our swimwear and got in the one inside since it was storming. It was so relaxing. Danny put his arm around me. I later my head on his shoulder.

Danny: You know, I really do love you.

He looked at me with a serious look.

Me: I love you too.

Danny: I can't wait to make you my wife.

I smiled a goofy grin and before I knew it, we were kissing. The kissing turned into other things, if you know what I mean.

The next day, we finally got to go to the Space Needle. We went all the way to the top and looked at the view. It wasn't what we were used to. We were used to sunny beaches and palm trees. Washington was rainy and pretty cold. Suddenly, there was a loud noise, almost like the power went out. The power went out! Oh my God! We had no way down from the top of the needle now! There was no backup generator powerful enough to get it working long enough to get everyone down. Thankfully after an hour, it came back on and we got down. The rest of the day, Danny and I were in the jacuzzi. Later that night, Danny's phone rang.

Danny: Hello?

Rachel: Daniel?

Danny: Oh it's you.

Rachel: Oh shut up. We have a court mandated meeting in 3 weeks. They called to let me know earlier today.

Danny: A court mandated meeting? I'm not in town and won't be for a while. You know that!

Rachel: We have had this scheduled for a long time now, Daniel.

Danny sighed.

Danny: Ok. I'll be there.

Rachel: You had better be.

Danny: Goodbye Rachel.

He hung up the phone.

Me: What's wrong?

Danny: Apparently Rachel and I have a court mandated meeting in 3 weeks.

Me: Ok. That's fine! We can just go straight to New Jersey and meet your family. We don't have to go to Texas to meet the family I stayed with. Then we'll go to California, get married spend a couple days there and then fly home in time for the meeting.

Danny: Yeah but we were supposed to go everywhere.

Me: I promise it's ok. We can still have fun.

Danny's phone buzzed.

Danny: Oh great. My mom just texted and said she's leaving to spend a year in France with my dad. So it looks like you won't get to meet them.

Me: It's ok. We'll just spend a week in California.

After that we began to plan our week in California.

Day 1: Check into hotel and relax.
Day 2: Drive across the border to Nevada and go to Top Gun for the day.
Day 3: Go to the big Halloween bash in L.A.
Day 4: Go hiking.
Day 5,6, and 7: Go to Disney Land.
Then fly home. It was going to be a fun week.
