Chapter 2

When I woke up the next morning, the rays of sunlight were creeping in from the small window. I carefully for out of bed not wanting to wake up my mom. I grabbed a piece of paper and left a note telling her where I'm going and why. She couldn't be mad at me for leaving could she? I mean this is the only job that pays super good money. I opened the door and looked outside. The town was busy as always but today it was even busier. I guess other people heard the news to. I walked into the mix of people who were walking and saw a sign. It must be to sign up to work in the castle. I stood and surprisingly it wasn't very long. I was called next and the woman at the desk didn't look to happy to be here. She gave a piece of paper and I filled out my information and gave it to the lady.

"Do you have any illnesses or anything that the royals should know about?", she asked.

"No", I replied.

She motioned me to go join the small group to my left. I went over to the group and they looked worse than I did. Once the last person was questioned, we began walking. I didn't know where but the castle is to far to walk. We walked down a path and ushered into a limo. I'm assuming that it's only one limo cause there isn't many of us. The car started moving and everything was going by so fast. I started thinking about home. What was my mother doing? Is she worried about me? Will she forgive me for leaving her? We jerked to a stop and were told to get out. I looked at the scenery. Stone walls, tall windows. Everything a vampire could ask for. We were pushed inside the castle and the inside was even more beautiful. Three chandeliers hung from the twenty foot ceiling, marble covered the floor, four grand thrones were placed in front of us.

"Now before your majesties", a guard said.

We all bowed and a soft voice spoke. It sounded like an angel but in reality it was a woman's voice.

"You may rise", the queen said.

"Welcome to our home. I am your beloved king John. This is my wife Anna, my daughter Sarah and my son Cole", the king said.

I looked at them and noticed a pair of soft green eyes staring at me. I looked up and saw the prince looking at me. His black hair was swept in his face and his head rested on his hand. He looked like he didn't want to be here. He quickly looked away and looked at his family.

"Now that you are all here, the guards will assign you to your jobs here and I look forward to having you all work in the castle. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask", the queen said.

The guards assigned us to our jobs and I got stuck being a servant along with three other girls. One of the guards showed us to our room and he gave us each a map around the castle. Once he left, I looked at the beds and saw that three are occupied. I took the bed farthest from the door. The bed I took has a view of life in the village.

"Hi", a girl said.

Her chocolate brown hair was tied in a bun. She wore a simple black dress with a white apron tied around her waist.

"Hi", I said after what seemed like forever.

"I'm Ashley and I'll be your tutor. Don't worry, I'll teach you everything you need to know", she said.

"Okay. Thanks. I have a question. Where's my uniform?", I asked.

"Oh I almost forgot. I have it right here", she replied.

She pulled out the exact outfit that she had from a dresser drawer. She handed it to me and I quickly put it on.

"Perfect fit", she commented.

She handed me the black flats. I put them on and put my hair in a ponytail.

"Okay. We have to go training. You'll need to know every routine, hallway, door and how to do everything quickly. The prince has a temper so I wouldn't keep him waiting very long", she explained.

After hours of walking, explaining, and practing taking stuff to Ashley as quickly as possible, my training was completed. We went back to our room but before we got there, we were stopped by the king. We both bowed and he started speaking.

"Can you deliver this important message to my wife?", he asked.

"Of course your highness", Ashley replied.

"Thank you", the king said.

We both bowed again and he was gone before we could blink. Ashley and I went to the queen and saw her in the grand foyer sitting on the couch reading a book called 'Pride and prejudice'.

"Excuse me your majesty. We have an important message from the king. He told us to deliver it to you", I said.

She looked up at us and gave a warm smile. She must be really nice.

"Thank you girls. You can set it on the table", she said.

I did as she requested and then walked over to where I was standing before.

"If you don't request anything else ma'am we will be on our way", Ashley said.

We walked out the foye and down the hall again. I heard a beeping sound and Ashley pulled something out her pocket. It was a buzzer.

"I have to go. I'll see you in the room", she said.

I didn't question where she was going. I wandered the halls looking for the room and was stopped by loud music and laughter. It sounded like it was coming from around the corner. I rounded the corner and the noise was becoming louder. I approached a room and heard the noise was coming from in here. The door was cracked open open a little bit. Just enough so I could see what was going on in there. I peeked inside and saw Cole with two girls who were dancing on the bed. Cole and was shirtless and his pants were sagging. The two girls had bite marks on every piece of skin that was exposed. Which really wasn't much. Just their legs, arms, necks and stomachs. These girls weren't scared? Well that's a shocker. Most girls my age would be terrified of someone drinking from them. But these girls are special. Cole looked at me and I quickly turned away from the door. I heard the door open and he was standing in front of me. He held me pinned me up against the wall and stared in my eyes.

"Were you spying on me?", he asked.

"No. I was just wondering were the music and laughter was coming from", I replied.

"I should kill you right now", he said.

"You won't hurt me", I said calmly.

He groaned and after that I was put back on my feet again. He didn't look to happy at that moment. He signed and his changed color. First it was red now it's the usual forest green.

"You're right. I won't hurt you. Just next time, stay out of my business", he said.

"Yes your highness", I said quickly.

I quickly bowed and ran to the direction I came from. This time I kept going straight. I ran into someone and saw a girl. She didn't look happy to see me.

"Watch where you're going servant", she snapped.

Can't be one of us. Can't be a cook. She's royalty. And the princess. Oh great. I ran into the wicked witch of vampires. Princess Sarah of Aden. The cruelest one of them all.

"I'm sorry. I'll be more careful next time", I said quickly.

"You better be. Or next time it's your head. Literally", she said.

"Yes your majesty", I said.

I ran down the hall and to the room. Man. Am I lucky or what?
