Chapter 16

Cole's POV

She didn't protest any longer. She had finally given up. I had won this round. She had no choice but to let me find a way to protect her forever. I just need to find out how I'm gonna do this.

"Isabel. If I could find a way to protect, will you agree to it?", I asked.

"Depends on what it is", she replied.

"I have an idea but it's to risky. Plus you wouldn't even think twice about saying no", I said.

She had this look on her face that made me worry. She didn't look to happy and her heart began to beat faster than it normally does. Whatever idea she had, she was to nervous to ask me.

"Change me", she said.

"What do you mean?", I asked.

"If you want to protect me, then change me. Your father can't say anything if I'm a vampire", she replied.

"I'm not going to take your life from you. You're making a decision that can never change. Once it's done there's no going back", I said.

"Cole it's the only way", she said.

"There are other options", I said.

"No there isn't. This is the only one", she said.

The door flew open and in came a royal guard.

"Your highness. Something is wrong with the king. You need to get to the medical center quick", he said.

I nodded and the closed quickly. I gave a look to Isabel and she came walking towards me.

"I have to go. Stay here and don't answer the door for anyone", I said.

"Okay", she responded.

I gave her a light kiss on the forehead and left the room. I ran down the hallway and down the steps as fast as my speed would take me. I reached the medical center in less than a minute. I went inside and saw multiple cots in rows. Two were occupied and a nurse came to me. She motioned me to follow her and she led me to the say cot in the back. My father laid on the cot with needles stuck in his arms. He looked miserable.

"Dad what happened?", I asked.

"I was shot with a stake. In was outside walking and a wolf came out of no where. One of them had a stake and threw it in my chest. The doctor said I'll be good as new in a couple days. Cole while I'm here, I need you to take care of all my duties and responsibilities as king. You'll be in charge of the meeting tomorrow afternoon at three", he explained.

"Okay. I'll go now and prepare", I said.

"Okay. Just remember, you have to be strong firm but fair", he said.

"You'll never stop putting that in my head", I said.

I walked out the medical center and just walked back to the room. It doesn't make any sense. I would've smelled the wolves a mile away. Maybe it's something about them that cover their scents. I don't know what it is but I will figure it out.
