When night fell I was woken by someone calling my name. I looked up to see who it was and saw Cole on the other side of the bars. I quickly got up and ran to him.
"You came back", I whispered.
"I wasn't going to leave you here", he said.
"I knew you wouldn't", I said.
"I'm gonna get you out of here", he said.
"You have the keys?", I asked.
"Yeah and when I get you out, we're going to runaway together", he replied.
He put the key in the keyhole and opened the door.
"Cole you can't leave. You're next in line for the throne. You don't want to leave it all behind do you?", I asked.
"I don't care about that. All I want is you", he replied.
"I'm not going to let you do that", I said.
"I'm not going to let you leave without me", he said.
"Cole. If you love me then you'll let me go", I said.
"I do but I can't let you go", he said.
I have him a hug and began crying softly and buried my head in his chest.
"Cole. I know this is hard for both of us but you have to let me go", I said.
"I'll come with you", he said.
"No. You can't. You have a whole life ahead of you. I'm not taking that away from you", I said.
"I don't care about that", he said.
"I'm not going to let you", I said.
I began walking to the door and opened it.
"At least let me walk you out", he said.
I didn't bother to argue with him. It was the least he could do. Plus he must know I would get lost. Like I always do. We walked through many doors and finally stopped at the one that led us outside. He walked outside with me and turned to look at me. This is probably the hardest decision I've had to make.
"Isabel. You don't have to do this", he said.
"Yes I do. This will be hard on both of us but in hearts we both know this is the best thing. I say that for both of us. You can live your life knowing that I'll be okay", I said.
"Are you sure you want to do this?", he asked.
"Cole. Just let me go", I replied.
He gave me a hug and a kiss on my forehead. He held my face up and I felt a tear roll down my face.
"I love you Isabel", he said.
"I love you too. Goodbye Cole", I said.
I began walking down the path that led to town. I knew this was the best thing for both of us but it was killing me. I knew that he'd be happy once he'd forgotten about me. But I wouldn't forget him.
