Chapter 15

Once we returned to the castle, I had a bunch of questions for Cole. Did he really kill Serena's family? Why would he do that? How many sirens exist? Are there more in the village or across the world? How come no one else has heard about them? Do they only appear when summoned by the royals? I was pulled out my thoughts when I heard someone call my name.

"Isabel", Cole said.

"Huh?", I asked in confusion.

"I asked you if you wanted to come to the ball with me. It's next week", he said.

"I don't think I should go", I said.

"Why not?", he asked.

"Cause your parents don't know that I'm back. I don't want to get banished or killed", I replied.

"Dont worry. Each royal member gets to invite one person as their VIP. It can be anyone as long as the royal member knows that person", he explained.

"So I'm like your plus one?", I asked.

"Yeah. I guess", he replied.

"But I have nothing to wear", I said.

"Don't worry. I already have that figured out", he said.

"Okay. Are you sure your father won't be mad?", I asked.

"Isabel don't worry. He can't say anything cause it's a rule", he replied.

"I'm just worried. What if everyone in the whole kingdom knows about us?", I asked.

"It will be okay. I will force everyone to keep their mouth shut", he replied.

I went to the bathroom that was in his room. I stared at myself in the mirror. I looked terrible. After dealing with all this drama, I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to run away my problems. My face looked like I had just woken up, my clothes were torn and I had barely gotten any sleep. I had to many problems. I just can't take it anymore. I just want to cry. Soon enough, I did start crying. My tears flowed down my face and I felt the need to just run away from everything. I felt two hands wrap around me and try to calm me down.

"Why does it feel like everyone is against me? Your sister and father hate me, your mother rarely talks to me and my mother is probably mad at me for leaving", I cried.

"Isabel. Everything will be okay. I promise", he said.

"Cole you can't make everything okay. There are some things you can't fix. You just can't fix everything problem that happens. Even if you try you just can't. This is one of those problems where you can't fix it", I said.

"I just can't sit here and pretend I have no idea what's going on", he said.

"Well you have to", I said.

"No. I'm going to take matters into my own hands. Even if it means dying", he said.

I stayed silent. Why does he think he can solve all my problems? He has a life of his own and he wants to worry about mine. He can't be serious.

"Isabel I'm supposed to protect you in any way I can. It's my job as a prince to people including you", he said.

"Well at this point it doesn't even matter Cole. There's nothing you can do. Either way I'll be banished to somewhere or killed. You can't hide me forever", I said.

"What if I could?", he asked.

"If you could then I'd be happy", I replied.

He walked over to me and held me by my waist. He looked into my eyes and began kissing me. He brushed my hair out of my face.

"Then I will find a way", he said.
