Chapter 26

I couldn't sleep at all. I knew Sarah had something to do with the wolves attacking. She must've had this planned out. I looked at the clock and it was almost two in the morning. I climbed out of bed and walked to the kitchen trying not to make a sound. I switched the lights on and opened the fridge and there were shelves full of food. I grabbed an apple and bit into it. I turned around and jumped with fright. I saw the king. He was in his pajamas and blood red robe.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you", he said.

"No it's okay", I said.

"What are you doing up?", he asked.

"I couldn't sleep. I was thinking about the battle that's taking place in less than a week", I replied.

"Such a shame that those dogs want to attack. We've kept the peace for so long. Everyone was living in harmony and now people will be frightened of what's happening", he said.

"It's not their fault. I think your daughter had something to do with it", I blurted out.

I didn't mean to say what I'd said. Even if it was the truth, I didn't mean for that to come out.

"Whatever could you mean dear?", he asked.

"Your majesty. I know you may not know this but your son loves me. He would die for me. That's why he changed me. I didn't understand why you were upset before but I understand now. If you want me to leave after the war then I will. But Cole will find a way to see me", I explained.

"I'm not mad. I was just upset that my son couldn't find someone of his own kind. Now that he's found you I'm glad that he found someone to meet his standards. You should consider yourself lucky. Girls just throw themselves at him but your different thanks the rest of the girls. You're special Isabel and don't ever forget that", he said.

I swear if I could still blush, I would be bright red. Maybe even brighter like a tomato.

"Well", he yawned. "Have a good night", he said.

He walked out the kitchen and I heard his door close two seconds later. So he wasn't mad. He was just a little upset that I wasn't a vampire. Well makes sense. I finished my apple in three bites and threw the core in the trash. I walked back to the room and closed the door. I climbed in bed and still couldn't sleep. I felt Cole wrap his arms around me.

"Are you okay?", he asked.

"Yeah I'm fine", I replied.

I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep. Eventually I did.

When I woke back up it was almost ten in the morning. Cole wasn't in bed which wasn't Didn't surprise me at all. He probably had some important meeting to attend to or something. I climbed out of bed and went into the bathroom. My eyes were a light golden color and it was beautiful. I went to the walk in closet and chose a light blue dress with blue flats. I brushed my hair and walked around the castle looking for Cole. I found in him in the foyer looking at a cup of water. The water rose and then fell back into the cup.

"So I see that I'm not the only one who practices their power in here", I said.

"It's just a good place to focus", he said.

I sat next to him and watched the water move in different ways. His power is amazing how he can move water. The water disappeared and I was really confused.

"How did you do that?", I asked.

"You really have to focus. Once you practice a little bit your power just comes and goes naturally", he replied.

"So your power is water?", I asked.

"Well that and telepathy. You have telepathy to", he replied.

"How does that work?", I asked.

"All you have to do is just think about what you want to say and who you want to talk to", he replied.

"So what if say oh I don't know we were fighting the wolves together and you needed backup", I said.

"Isabel I told you it's not gonna happen", he said.

"Remember yesterday when you said you have no choice but to let me help?", I asked.

"Yeah I remember. Now I've changed my mind", he replied.

"Oh you can't change your mind now. You already told me yes so now you have to let me help", I said.

"I'll let you help only if you can get your power under control", he said.

"Deal", I said.

I got off the couch and went into the garden to begin practicing. I knew Cole was following me but I pretended he wasn't there. I focused really hard on making fire appear. It finally came and I made it move up in the air. Then down and made a star. The fire died out and there were little red sparkles flying around me.

"So this is what you practice?", he asked.

"I don't do this all the time", I replied.

I turned to look at him and he looked quite amused. I walked towards him which made him chuckle. I have no idea what's so funny though.

"What's so funny?", I asked.

"Nothing", he replied.

I walked back inside and went to the room. I looked at myself in the mirror admiring myself once again. I had to admit I looked great but the eyes still creeped me out. I felt Cole put his lips on mine when I turned around. I pulled away and looked into my eyes.

"I have to go", he said.

"Where?", I asked.

"I have to go meet my father and the head guard to discuss the battle plans", he replied.

"Okay", I said.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed my lips on his. He pulled away and walked out the room. I stood on the bathroom admiring myself. The door opened and I knew it was Cole.

"Back already?", I asked.

"Yeah. We're not finished yet", a female voice replied.

I turned around and saw Sarah standing aim the doorway. She was wearing a long dark red dress with black heels. Her hair was flowing to her back and her eyes were blood red.

"You just can't leave me and Cole alone can you?", I asked.

"I'm sorry but I'm still not happy that you're with my brother", she replied.

"Well you're gonna have to get used to it cause our love is a forever thing", I said.

"Oh yeah. I heard that he turned you himself and your power is fire", she said.

"I don't see what your problem is with me", I said.

"My problem is that before you came along, my brother used to be my best friend. Then you came along and our friendship just ends. We used to close but now we're so far apart that it hurts", she explained.

"Well I'm sorry if I ruined your friendship with your brother but I can't just breakup with him cause you want to be close with him", I said.

"Actually you will. Last time I checked I'm the princess and you're still a peasant. After the war with the wolves, you will breakup with my brother and never come back", she said.

"Why are you doing this?", I asked.

"I'm the princess and I can do what I want", she replied.

"You know, you're a terrible sister. You should be happy for him", I said.

"Oh whatever. You have exactly five days to come up with a good excuse to breakup with my brother or else I will kill you", she said.

She gave me an evil glare and walked out the room slamming the door. Breakup with Cole? Now that's something I can't but have to do. No matter how much it hurts me.
