Chapter 24

Darkness is all I saw. Everything was pitch black. I saw nothing. My whole entire body felt like it was on fire but in reality it wasn't. My gums hurt so bad I didn't know what to do. Suddenly I felt myself change in a way I didn't understand. I began to float and felt the darkness disappear. I was back in reality now. I opened my eyes and the light burned them. I quickly closed them not wanting to see the light again. I felt something come out of my gums and instantly knew that it was my fangs. My body was throbbing in pain. I opened my eyes and everything was clear. I saw everything. The tiny specks of dust floating in the air and the small black dots on the mattress.

"Cole. Are you still he here?", I asked.

Two arms wrapped around me and I felt relieved. I looked at Cole and he smiled at me like I did something cute. I got up and walked to the mirror and admired myself. I no longer looked like the Isabel who worked in the castle with a super flat stomach and pale skin. I looked better. My skin was a little pale but not to pale, my hair was fuller, my bones had meat on them and my eyes were red. Wait red eyes? That can't be right.

"How long will it be until my eyes change color?", I asked.

"About a week", he replied.

I looked at myself again and couldn't believe what I saw. I looked at Cole and then at myself. I put my shirt back on and laid on the bed. I was tickled once again and I began laughing. He wasn't about to win this one. He may have turned me but I've heard that newborn vampires are much stronger. I climbed on top of him and looked at him. I laid on his chest and stared at the ceiling. I sat on the up on the bed and looked at him. I felt my mind change I felt something in my brain buzz. I began to develop a headache and my head was in so much pain.

"Are you okay?", he asked.

"Yeah. My head hurts like crazy", I replied.

"You'll be okay. It's just one of your powers coming", he said.

"Powers? What powers?", I asked.

"Each vampire gets a special power but there will be some who don't. But only those who've been turned by royalty get a power", he replied.

"When will I get mine?", I asked.

"In a few hours. Once it comes you'll know", he replied.

I heard a knock on the door and the door flew open. Two guards came in with shields and spears. After them came in king John.

"Adeze soldiers", the king said.

"Dad how did you find us?", Cole asked.

"I tracked your scent all the way here. I knew that you would be here with her. After I banished you to the dungeons you still escaped", the king said.

"Dad. I haven't been happy since Alexandra", Cole said.

"This girl has brainwashed you. She has nothing to offer. She is only a mere human and you're the Prince of vampires", the king said.

He looked at me and looked shocked. He didn't know until know? Seriously? After all this time my heart hasn't been beating he hasn't noticed.

"Dad I need you to stay calm", Cole said.

I tried to hide myself behind him but it obviously wasn't going to work. No matter how hard I tried.

"You changed her", the king said.

"Dad it's not what it looks like", Cole said.

He walked over to us and took a good look at me. He didn't look all that excited.

"Why would you change her", the king asked.

"She wanted to be with me forever. She can't be with me forever if she was still human. Are you mad?", Cole asked.

"No. I'm happy actually", he replied.

"Wait what?", Cole asked.

"This is what I've been waiting for. For you to turn her yourself. Why do you think I've been pushing you to find someone of your kind?", he asked.

"So I can find the perfect girl that lives forever", Cole replied.

"Exactly. I'm proud of you", he said.

The king left the room with the guards following him. The door closed softly and I felt a huge weight being lifted off my shoulders.

"So I guess now your dad's okay with us being together now that I'm a vampire?", I asked.

"I guess so. How do you feel?", he asked.

"My head stopped hurting but I feel like there's fire on me. Like I'm being thrown into a fire pit", I replied.

"I think it's your new power but we won't know for sure. We should get back to the castle. I don't need your new power to possibly burn the place down", he said.

He got up off the bed and walked over to the corner of the room where he put the bags. He put them on his shoulder and held his hand out for me to take.

"We're leaving now?", I asked.

"The sooner we can get back to the castle the better", he replied.

"I'm not ready to go yet. Can't we just out into an open field until I get my powers?", I asked.

"I wish it were that easy but there's a special room in the castle that can conceal your powers until you can get them under control", he explained.

"Okay. I guess I have no choice do I?", I asked.

"Not really", he replied.

I got out the bed and took his hand. We ran to the castle and was there under a second. Once we approached the palace gates, the guards bowed and we went up to the room. I sat on the bed and found a note. It was the same one I found recently. Except it was different.

"I know Isabel has changed into a bloodsucker which makes this ten times as fun".

I put the note down and Cole gave me a worried look.

"Are you okay?", he asked.

"I don't think so. I do know that someone out there is watching us", I replied.
