YOUR POV

I was walking down the hall with my friends. They were laughing and talking about their weekend they had. I was uninterested, however. While they were out partying and getting drunk, I was at home studying. My friends always called me a buzzkill because of it, but I cared about my grades. Because unlike them, I actually have plan for my future and it doesn't involve flunking out of high school.

So you could call me a nerd, I guess. But in reality, I wasn't the nerd. Luke Hemmings was the school's nerd. He dressed like a normal kid- black jeans, a band t-shirt, converse, and the occasional beanie, he had a lip ring- but he wore these glasses, and he would slick back his hair slightly. He didn't look nerdy, but we all new he was. He had the highest GPA in the school, took four AP classes, was always ahead on his work, and when he wasn't occupied getting bullied by the jocks, he was reading a comic book.

Luke got bullied. A lot. And it hurt to see it. I was always a bystander. I guess part of me was scared that my friends would disown me. And it hurt to watch Luke get hurt because, under those glasses, he was pretty cute. Apparently I'd be the only one to think that because he is considered a 'nobody'. But I have no doubt in my mind that he is a really sweet kid. From what I've seen and heard, he was actually not that bad. No matter how people made him out to be.

My friends and I stopped and leaned against the lockers, waiting for the starting bell to ring. Just as I turned my head, I saw Luke. And then I saw the jocks. They knocked the books out of Luke's hands, then shoved him against the locker. I heard a loud bang, which I only guessed was his head smacking against the metal. I winced as I saw it. One of the jocks, Adam, took Luke's glasses off and tossed them to the floor. I rolled my eyes.

"He's such a nerd," my friend Mindy laughed.

"Right? I mean, just look at him. Sure he dresses normal, but his face just screams dork," my other friend, Tracy said.

"This is totally unfair," I announced. They both looked at me.

"This happens everyday, (y/n). Thats how its supposed to be."

"No," I said. "Its not. How can you two be so heartless? Look at the poor boy. Not only is he terrified, but he probably has multiple bruises on his body. This is so fucked."

"Are you actually defending him," Tracy said, shocked.

"You know what, I am. And you two are clearly selfish bitches who only care about being popular. I'm putting an end to this." I walked away from them and advanced towards Luke. "Back off, Adam. He didn't do anything to you."

"What? What's this? (y/n) is defending the nerd?"

"He's not a nerd."

"You're right. He's a loser too," Adam scoffed and the rest of his squad laughed.

"Actually, the loser is the one who gets the joy from hurting others. And who is that in this situation? Oh, its you. Now back the fuck off."

Adam took a few steps closer until he was towering over me. "And what are you going to do about it, little lady?"

I stepped on his foot as hard as I could. When that caught him off guard, I kneed him in the nads. "You underestimate the power of a woman. And I'm not a 'little lady'. Get the fuck out of here, Adam." With that, they were gone, and Luke was now on the ground picking up his books. I knelt down to help him. "Are you okay, Luke?" I asked handing him his glasses.

He took them, put them back on and said, "You know my name?"

"Of course I do. You're in like half my classes."

"But I'm just a nobody. And you're a somebody."

"Fuck that shit. If being a somebody is picking on the weaker man, then I don't want to be a somebody. Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I think so," he said and stood up.

"I heard you hit your head. Does it hurt at all?"

"Just a little. I'm fine, really."

I looked around the halls and realized everybody had left. "Do you maybe wanna ditch? We can go back to my place and just relax," I offered.

"Why not," he said. I smiled and took his hand, dragging him out of the school where nobody could see us.

When we made it to my house, I gave him an ice pack to put on the back of his head. We sat on the couch for about an hour just talking and laughing and getting to know each other. Eventually we just stopped and stared at each other. I never realized how blue his eyes were. They were beautiful. I watched as his eyes flashed from mine, to my lips, and back to my eyes. Then he kissed me. And surprisingly, the kiss was perfect. His lips were warm, and soft, and he moved them like he knew exactly what he was doing. I kissed back, wanting it just as much as he did. I felt the chill from his lip ring against my lips.

He pulled away from the kiss all too quickly. He looked at me with panicked eyes. "I- I'm sorry... Its just that... I've liked you for a long time. Since they day I saw you in class three years ago. Despite you being friends with Mindy and Tracy, I've always liked you." He sounded so nervous and it was so cute.

I looked at him and said, "I've always thought you were pretty cute. And just from talking to you I've grown to like you. Fuck those bitches. I don't know why I was ever friends with them to begin with. If they want to judge you by your looks and your intelligence, rather than your personality, then fine. They can. But I won't. Because I know its what's inside that counts." I touched his chest, pointing my finger where his heart should be. Then I gripped his shirt and pulled him so his lips were on mine again.

Luke smirked, and that smirk lead to one of the most amazing, unexpected moments of my life.

A/n: hey guys! Unfortunately I don't have anything else written right now, but I will soon. Just give me some time. Hopefully things will slow down after my birthday and stuff.
Love you guys!
