Chapter 4: The Audition

NORMAL POV

"She's really pushing for this isn't she?" Denise asks her husband as they stand outside the door where there only daughter was auditioning for a role in a movie.

"There's no doubt that Liz will get the part and I'm saying this as a business man not a dad." Paul says to his wife as she nods agreeing with him.

"She wants people to not label her based on her brothers. Apart of me is telling me that this isn't the part." Denise says worriedly as Paul looks at her confused.

"Denise, what Liz is doing is perfectly fine. She wants to have her own career and her pushing for this is acceptable." Paul says as Denise nods and sighs.

"No I get that but I'm just saying that my motherly instincts have this feeling I don't know how to explain." She says as Paul sighs.

"Liz was saying almost the exact same thing but I'm sure it's nothing. Probably some audition jitters." He says to his wife as she nods.

"Oh my god!" Liz says excitedly as she exits the room she was in previously and hugs her parents. "It might be hard to believe but it went absolutely great!" She adds with a huge smile on her face.

"It's not hard to believe at all. You're amazing. Your father and I are so happy for you." Denise says to her daughter as she smiles and hugs her mom again.

"You two should be happy for your daughter. Like I said before and continue will continue to say, she's gifted with an incredible talent." The producer says to Liz's parents as they nod. "She got the part?" She adds.

"I got the part? Wow I didn't expect to get an answer that fast. I'm not saying I don't want this part but have you looked at other auditions?" Liz asks as the producer nods.

"I sure have but I believe no one amounts to what you just showcased a few minutes ago." The producer with a sophisticated posture says.

"Wow I'm extremely flattered. Thank you." Liz says surprised as she looks over at her parents then back at the producer of the new movie.

"Um Liz there is a few things we need to discuss. Please follow me into my office." The producer says as Liz looks at her dad unsure.

"Oh you already want to go over stuff? I'm assuming I should go as well I mean I am her manager." Liz's dad says as the producer shakes her head.

"No, no her manager or her parents being in the office isn't necessary at all. I only want to talk about her strengths and weaknesses, get to know each other." The producer says as Liz nods.

"Alright seems harmless. I'll be right back." Liz says as her parents nod and she begins to follow her now producer into her office.

LIZ'S POV

Following Gaby, my producer of this really exciting movie that I will be starring, was nerve racking and also a calming thing to do. Is this what it feels like to go into your principal's office.

"Sit down. Relax, please." She says to me motioning over to the chairs as I nod and sit down. "Nice office you have." I say politely as she smiles.

"Thank you. I believe what a persons room reflects on the person themselves." She says as a lump is created in my throat. Suddenly this went from a normal thing to do to an interrogation.

"Anyways Liz I just want to get to know you. I've never had the chance to just talk to you casually and get to know you as a person." She says to me as I nod.

"Well what do you want to know about me? You probably already know the basics four brothers, three of them in a band that's a big deal I guess." I say to her as I slightly chuckle.

"The entire world knows that but I want to know more. You're interests, how you prefer things, you're eating habits." She says throwing me off with the last couple of things she said.

"No offense but I think that's pretty personal. I mean someone doesn't really tell those things to a producer well those who have producers." I say as she nods.

"Liz, I don't want to beat around the bush so I will just come out and say it...you're body structure isn't the ideal image to be featured on screen." She says to me as I turn utterly and absolutely surprised.

"I understand." I simply say to her as she nods. "You didn't really want to know anything about me did you? You just wanted to tell me that?" I add as she leans on her desk.

"I'm only saying what other people here at the studio don't want to say." She says to me as I look at my hands and sigh. "That's all I want to say. You can leave." She adds as I stand from my chair.

I leave out of the room completely disgusted and bothered by what she just dared to say to me but what if she was right?

"Hey that was fast." My dad says to me as he and my mom walk up to me breaking me out of my trance. "How'd it go?" He asks as I sigh.

"It...it went great." I say lying as he nods. Why did I lie? Why didn't I tell him the truth? "She just wanted to get to know me." I say to him as he nods.

"Oh okay well um we should get home." My mom adds as I nod and stay behind them thinking about what just happened.

NORMAL POV

"Okay guys can you not talk about anything work related. We're here to celebrate Liz." Denise says to her husband and sons.

"We're sorry but it's the first time we'll be on tour together as a family. One full summer traveling together all over the world." Kevin says as Denise shrugs.

"Your right but we never get the chance to eat out in a restaurant so enjoy this moment." Denise responds to Kevin as he nods and eats his dinner.

"So Demi did you do what you said you were going to do?" Dani asks Demi as they smile at one another.

"Yeah I did." Demi says excitedly as everyone else looks at the two confused. "Well you all know how Dani's never been around the world? I made this agenda where she can get the entire experience of the country we're in." She adds as everyone nods.

"You do know that we only have almost one day in a country and most of the time we're getting ready for the show?" Nick says to Demi as she nods.

"That why I made a schedule." Demi says causing everyone to laugh.

"Liz are you okay? Do you want anything else?" Paul asks his daughter as she quickly stops staring off into space.

"What, oh no. I'm fine just full. I definitely shouldn't have eaten all of those Rice Krispy treats before coming here." Liz says as her dad nods.

"Um Liz I thought you said Briana couldn't come." Kevin says as Liz pops her head up. "She's outside." He adds as she turns and sees her standing outside.

"Um, she just needed something from me. I'll be back." She says standing up and leaving before her family could respond.

"Liz!" Briana yells out as she sees Liz coming out of the restaurant. "What's up. It seemed urgent." She adds as Liz takes a deep breath.

"It's not as urgent as I made it seem but it is a situation." Liz says as Briana nods. "Let's not talk here though people could be listening." She adds as she grabs Briana's hand and leads her inside the restaurant.

"Wait we're going inside?" Briana asks before they go inside. "Liz look at what I'm wearing. I can't go inside to a restaurant like that." She says making Liz look at the t-shirt and shorts.

"C'mon." Liz says as she drags her best friend inside the fancy restaurant.
