Chapter 24: Jonas Family Consultant

NORMAL POV

"How is everything there?" Liz asks Briana as they video chat.

"It has calmed down. A few days after you left most of the paparazzi got off your front lawn." Briana says as Liz nods.

"I've been avoiding all forms of social media. I'm not ready to see what they've been saying about me." Liz explains as Briana nods.

"Both you and me." Briana says as Liz smiles slightly. "So have you talked to your dad since you discovered that email or are you mad at him?" Briana asks Liz shakes her head.

"That's the issue I'm not mad I'm just...ugh!" Liz says grabbing a pillow and screams into it.

"So you're frustrated?" Briana says as Liz sighs and shrugs her shoulder.

"Frustrated is just one of the many words I'm feeling." Liz says as Briana gives her an apologetic smile. "Wait a minute are you in my house?" She asks as Briana shakes her head.

"Let's not make this about me." Briana says as Liz shakes her head. "So does this mean you're mad at your dad?" She asks as Liz shrugs.

"I'm not mad at him I'm just...I'm mad at the fact that he's suing the hospital. He wants to punish them for the mistake they made but thinking about it I'm the mistake." Liz says as Briana shakes her head.

"Liz, you're not the mistake. Your lives have been turned upside down and the root of this problem is the hospital. It would be a crime from them just to get a slap on the wrist." Briana says as Liz sighs.

"I guess you're right." Liz says as Briana smiles.

"Well I am Briana aka the Jonas family consultant." Briana says as Liz raises her eyebrow at her.

"Jonas family consultant, huh? Is that why you're at my house?" Liz says as Briana pulls the computer closer to her face so Liz wouldn't see the background.

"Frankie and I were just working on some homework together. We're in the same grade, we're learning the same things." Briana says as Liz gives Briana a blank stare.

"I'm going to go cause I don't want to think about you and my brother." Liz says closing the laptop as Briana tries to get in a last word.

For the next couple of minutes Liz sat on the bed in silence thinking about what Briana just told her. Liz felt bad for getting into an argument with her dad. That's been happening alot, arguing. She then quickly got out of bed and ran downstairs to talk with her dad.

"I'm sorry." She hears her dad say from the living room. "I'm not going through with it...I changed my mind...alright thank you talk to you soon." He says as Liz stands there motionless but she takes a deep breath and walks into the living room

"Dad." She says causing her dad to turn around. "You're dropping the lawsuit?" She asks as he nods.

"You overheard?" He asks as she nods. "I thought about what you said and I decided to not go through with it. Besides they were punished. That hospital was shut down." He says as Liz chuckles.

"The downside is that we're never going to get our unanswered questions resolved." Liz says as her dad sighs.

"I don't think that's anything to worry about because as soon as we find the other family and begin bonding with them none of that will matter." He says as Liz smiles.

"But how do you know we're going to bond with them? What if they're the worst?" Liz ask as Paul chuckles.

"You came from them so they can't be that bad." He says as Liz laughs.

"Guys." They hear someone say behind them as they turn and see Denise standing there looking worried. "They found our files." She adds as Liz and her father exchange looks.

"But how I thought it was suppose to take months for them to find them. It's only been a couple of days." Liz says as her mother nods her head.

"Yes but with the DNA samples they took of you it was quickly found." Denise says as Paul grabs his car keys quickly off the table.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go." He says as they quickly walk out of the house.

LIZ'S POV

"Well you all came quick." The doctor says as he let's us in his office.

"With a news like this how could we not?" My mom tells him as we all take our seats; The same seats we took not too long ago when the doctor said this process could take months.

"Here's the file that matched with Liz's DNA and here's the one that was under your name." He says handing the files to both of my parents.

"Adriana Lopez?" My dad reads off the file before looking up at the doctor.

"That's Liz's biological mother." He says as I sit up in my chair and look at the file my dad was reading.

"Have you already contacted her?" My mom says as the doctor shakes his head.

"We tried but the number on that file has been disconnected." He says as I sigh.

"Another dead end." I say as the doctor shakes his head again.

"Not necessarily. There is another number on the file. It was Ms. Lopez's mother. Thankfully we were able to reach her and she should be here any minute." The doctor says as I sigh and try to process all of this that was happening way too fast.

"Liz?" My mom says as she puts her hand on my shoulder. "You okay?" She asks me as I take a deep breath and shake my head.

"No." I say to her causing her to sigh. She gives me a reassuring smile.

Ever since my parents told me about the switch I've been constantly hearing people ask me if I'm okay and for the first time I was able to give answer.
