Chapter 26: The Visitor

NORMAL POV

"I don't think it's suppose to look like that." Liz says laughing as Dani paints her nails.

"I'm trying new things." Dani says grabbing a washcloth to clean the mess they've made.

"Alright how about we do something else that doesn't make so much mess." Liz says as Dani nods.

"You know there's something we can never do in LA and that's riding our bikes." Dani says as Liz smiles at her.

"You're right! Hurry up and get this off." Liz says as Dani laughs and continues taking off the nail polish. "Thanks by the way." She adds as Dani turns confused.

"What are you talking about?" Dani asks as Liz smiles.

"For doing this and getting my mind off of things. Ever since I landed in Texas I've only thought about the switch and finding...them." Liz says as Dani shrugs her shoulders.

"I'm the only sister-in-law you have at the moment so I'm going to enjoy it as long as I can." Dani says causing Liz to laugh.

"Well according to People Magazine Nick and Joe are Hollywood's hottest bachelor's so it can take a while for them to find wives." Liz says making Dani laugh and shake her head.

"Alright I'm done. Now get changed." Dani says as she stands up and makes her way to the window facing the driveway. "Hey Liz how did you say Valerie looks?" She asks as Liz turns confused.

"She has like medium length hair and..."

"Wears black glasses." Dani says finishing Liz's sentence.

"Wait how do you know?" Liz says confused as Dani motions her to come to the window. There they see Valerie standing in the driveway talking to Paul and Denise.

"They're coming inside." Dani says as they quickly walk to the door but Liz stops.

"No." Liz says making Dani confused. "This entire time I've been wanting to know answers but now all I want is to back away from all of this." Liz says as Dani nods.

"We could wait up here. Besides whatever she's saying to them they'll obviously tell you." Dani says as Liz nods.

"Let's hope so." Liz says as she and Dani go back to sitting on the bed. "You know I'm kind of hungry." She says standing and walking to the door.

"You just want to go downstairs and hear what they're talking about don't you?" Dani says as Liz sighs.

"My biological grandma whom I don't really know that well could be downstairs talking about a family secret or something." Liz says as Dani nods.

"You sound crazy." Dani says as Liz shrugs her shoulders.

"I'm going to take that as a compliment." Liz says leaving the room as Dani rushes to catch up with her.

"I just don't think it's safe for them to meet." They hear someone say as they stop walking down the stairs.

"I'm guessing that's Valerie." Dani says as Liz nods.

"It is." Liz says shaking her head. "Them? Wait could that mean me." She asks as Dani sighs.

"You and your Bio mom, maybe." Dani says before they become quiet.

"I'm understand but it's going to be hard to tell Liz." Denise says as Dani shakes her head.

"We should go back." Dani says as she begins to walk back.

"Yeah let's go." Liz says running up the stairs before Dani.

LIZ'S POV

"She's walking out of the driveway...okay she's gone." Dani says looking out the window as I continue to sit on the bed in silence.

"Hey what's going on?" Kevin says walking into the room with the rest of my brothers.

"Liz, are you okay?" Nick says as I look up and make eye contact with him.

"Um...I just...don't worry about it." I say to him as they look over at Dani.

"I'm guessing you all didn't see our visitor." She says making them confused. "Valerie." She adds as they exchange looks.

"She was in this house? What was she doing here." Kevin asks concerned as Dani calms him.

"Let your parents talk to you about it because we're not so sure." Dani says as we hear the door open.

"You're all here." Our mom says coming into the room as each of us nod. "We need to talk about something." She adds as we stay quiet.

"About Valerie." Frankie says as our parents look at us confused.

"The window faces the driveway." Dani says as they nod.

"What did she say?" I ask them standing up from the bed.

"She gave us news about her granddaughter and daughter." Dad says as I look over at Dani and she gives me an apologetic look.

"She doesn't know where they are but she told us that it's best not to look for her due to the fact that she's not one to be trusted." Mom says as we become shocked.

"So what am I suppose to do? Not meet her and what are you suppose to do? Not meet your daughter?" I say them as they sigh.

"There is something else she said about our...daughter." Mom says as I feel the room become tense. "When she was about 8 she became sick and after a few years her sickness eventually led to her...her death." She reveals as we all exchange shocked looks, unsure what to do with the news our mom just gave us.
