Chapter 14: A Big Night

LIZ'S POV

"I can't believe you're taking Demi's place as opening act and that is definitely the appropriate outfit." Alyson says as we both stand in front of the mirror.

"I guess you could say I get my sense of fashion from my mom." I say as she laughs and chuckles.

"Now let's choose the lip color. Dark red or just red?" Alyson says rummaging through the make up kit.

"I think I'm just going for my usual look." I say as Alyson shakes her head.

"You're usual look? You're not just Liz the dancer now, you're Liz the opening act." Alyson says as I sigh.

"I would be lying if I said this is the greatest thing ever." I say as she turns and looks at me confused. "This isn't how I wanted it to happen." I add as she comes up to me and comforts me.

"Liz, this had to be done. Demi left because of a family situation. It's okay." Alyson says as I look up at her confused.

"What? Who told you?" I say as she shrugs her shoulders.

"The tour manager and apparently Shorty left too. Something about having another job to attend." She says as I shake my head.

"I can't believe this." I say as she looks at me confused. "That's not what happened." I add as she looks at me surprised.

"They lied to us? Why would they do that?" She says as I sigh.

"They didn't want you to know obviously. Demi and Shorty got into a fight and now they went home." I say to her as she turns surprised.

"What? How do you know?" She asks me as I shake my head.

"I saw it. Last night that I left the party early I saw everything happen." I reveal to her as she sigh.

"That's why you're not happy about being opening act. Why not tell your dad about how you're feeling?" Alyson asks me as I shrug my shoulders.

"Because he kind of made me and I don't want to let him down." I responds as she nods her head.

"This might be the worst of situations but take that Liz charm and make it a great situation." She says as I smile.

"I guess you're right." I say as she smiles and nods her head.

"Great you're all ready." Denise says as she walks into the dressing room. "I got you something." She says before her brothers walk in.

"We all got you something." Kevin says as he and Nick set the gift on down.

"Where should we put these?" Frankie says as he and Joe walk into the room with balloons.

"Anywhere should be fine." I say to them as they find an empty spot to put them. "Guys this isn't a momentous occasion. I've performed in front of crowds before." I say to them as they nod.

"We know that but it's your first international performance. We should make a big deal about this." My mom says as I smile at her.

"Well thank you. Now let's see what we have here." I say going through the presents to see if there was some good food.

"Liz you go on stage in 20 minutes. It's not a good time to eat." Nick says as I sigh and set down the hand full of candy.

"You're right." I say as Alyson takes on mocking me. "Alright I need to get my mic." I say as everyone nods and we all go out the room.

"Are you nervous?" Alyson says to me as I shrug my shoulders.

"Are you kidding? I always get nervous being a dancer now my nerves are all over the place being a singer." I say to her as she chuckles.

"You'll do great." She says as I nod.

Minutes were left until the show started and I couldn't help but think of Demi. No one knew the truth except me, my family and hers. She was going through stuff and me, her friend, didn't know. I couldn't believe she was gone. Everything I was doing she would've been doing instead.

I hear the music begin and I'm told to walk on stage. The crowd goes wild and my nerves go away. It was so fun being on stage but some how I feel guilty. This should be Demi not me. She worked so hard for this and I was handed this.

NORMAL POV

"Okay she's coming off stage in 3 minutes get ready." Denise says to some helpers backstage as Liz finishes her last song.

"Denise, you okay?" Paul says to his wife as they spot each other.

"Yeah, we decided to just take Liz's mic off and then just change her shoes. We don't have time to get her to her dance clothes." Denise says as Paul nods.

"Great. See I told you it could work." He says to her before walking away.

"Thank you! You guys are amazing!" Liz says into the microphone before running offstage. "Alright how do you take this off?" Liz says while sound guys help her take the microphone off.

"Liz take your shoes off quick." Her mom says to her as Liz puts her dancing shoes on. "Alright you're good now go." She says as Liz runs to the other side of the stage to be with the other dancers.

"Made it just in time." Alyson says as Liz nods.

"Can't believe you ever doubted me." Liz says as Alyson shrugs her shoulders.
