Chapter 27: A Dysfunctional Family

NORMAL POV

"Liz." Dani says coming into Liz's room as she continues to throw clothes out from the bags she bought. "Liz!" She says again making Liz stop.

"Oh I didn't hear you come in. What's up?" Liz asks as Dani raises her eyebrow at her.

"You do realize this mess, right?" Dani asks as Liz turns around and notices her clothes laying all over the room.

"Oh wow. I'll clean it up." Liz says gathering up all her clothes as Dani shakes her head.

"Liz, there's no time. We're leaving in an hour and your not even dressed yet." Dani says making Liz stop. "Are you okay?" She asks as Liz sighs.

"The truth is, I'm nervous. I'm super nervous. I've never been so nervous in my life and I didn't bring enough clothes. If I catch a plane to LA I'll be back faster than you can say Tangerine." Liz says as Dani laughs.

"So we finally found what makes Liz nervous." Dani says as Liz nods. "It's going to be okay. Just choose a nice dress and everything will be fine." She adds as Liz takes a deep breath.

"I can do this." Liz says as she goes over to the pile of dresses she has and begins throwing everything around again.

"Okay I think it's better if I choose it." Dani says as Liz nods and together they begin choosing the perfect dress for tonight's dinner.

LIZ'S POV

"Great now pick out some nice shoes and you'll be good to go." Dani says walking to the door but she suddenly stops. "Wait you'll be okay doing that on your own, right?" She says as I nod.

"I can do that." I say to her as she nods and steps out of the room.

I walk over to my shoes and pick out some pink leather ballet flats that went nicely with my dress. I grab my silver clutch and start to walk out the door but I suddenly stop and look at the mirror that was hung on the door. I fix my white floral dress and my straight black hair. I wanted to remember everything; the day I meet my other family.

I'll finally get to find out where I get my brown hair, my brown eyes and why I'm so tall for my age. I'll finally get to know who I look like in my family. I take one last look at myself and smile. Everything was going to be alright.

"I'm ready." I say coming down the stairs as my family turns and smiles at me.

"Great let's get going." My dad says grabbing the car keys and going out the door.

As I'm walking out the door I meet up with Dani and we give each other a high five.

"Wow I haven't been here in a while. What do you think I should get." Frankie says coming out of the car as Nick chuckles.

"No clue but you should definitely get the pecan pie. I remember it tasting so good." Nick says as Frankie nods agreeing with him.

"Alright boys remember be on your best behavior." Our mom says before we enter the restaurant where we'll be meeting my family.

"Hello. We have reservations under Valerie Lopez." Our dad says to the hostess waiting at the front desk as he nods.

"Your party is already here. Right this way." The hostess says as we follow him behind. Once we reach the back patio of the restaurant the hostess leaves and Valerie comes to greet us.

"It's very nice to see you again." She says shaking my hand followed by my mom and dad.

"You as well and we would live for you to meet our boys. This is Kevin and his wife Dani, Nick, Frankie and Joe." My mom says as Valerie shakes their hand.
