If August Could Speak to You

If August could write you a letter,
I think it would begin with your name.

It would remind you
that hope has never needed to shout.
Sometimes it arrives quietly,
like the first cool breeze after a relentless summer,
asking only to be trusted.

I've spent far too many nights
trying to predict tomorrow.

Replaying conversations.

Imagining every possibility.

Wondering if I'll say the right words
when the moment finally arrives.

The truth is,
I'm scared.

Not because I question my heart.

Because I've never wanted to protect something
as much as I've wanted to protect yours.

I want the day to feel effortless.
The kind of memory we laugh about years from now.

The kind that begins with nervous hands
and ends with two people realizing
they've been walking toward each other all along.

Our story has never been simple.

It wandered through silence,
distance,
questions,
timing,
and seasons that asked us both
to grow before we were ready.

Yet somehow,
every road kept pointing back
to the same place.

You.

People say opposites attract.

I think they're only telling half the story.

Opposites don't meet
because they're missing pieces.

They meet because they carry different colors,
different scars,
different ways of seeing the world.

And somewhere in the middle,
they discover a life
neither could have imagined alone.

You haven't completed me.

You've challenged me.

You've softened the places
I kept guarded.

You've reminded me that patience
is another language of love.

You've taught me
that understanding someone
is often more powerful
than trying to change them.

So if one day you notice
I'm quieter than usual,
or smiling for no obvious reason,

it's probably because
I'm carrying a question in my heart.

A question that has been growing
since the day we met.

Until then,

I'll keep trusting August.

I'll keep trusting us.

And I'll keep believing
that the best chapters
are never the ones we rush into.

They're the ones we grow into,
hand in hand,
exactly as we are.

And if the universe has taught me anything,
it's this:

Love doesn't ask us to become someone else.

It simply asks us
to become more ourselves,

and to invite another soul
to walk beside us.

I hope, when that moment comes,

you'll take my hand,

and we'll discover together

what forever has been quietly waiting to become.
