-Jesy POV-
I'd say dating one of Westside Highs famous guys -Jack Gilinsky - has it perks.
Well sometimes.
For one, everyone knew me well but that doesn't mean they all liked me. Secondly, I always got the best lockers, best seats at lunch and even at football games.
The other perk was that my boyfriend was internet famous. Him and his best friend Jack Johnson are also making it happen in the music industry. I was proud of him.
"Hey babe." Gilinsky popped up behind me and kissed my cheek.
"Are we still on for ice - "
"I have to cancel." He interrupted me. "I have football practice now and a bunch of catching up to do."
I sighed. That's how its been lately. Gilinsky and I were wearing out after a year of being in love and dating. It was heart breaking.
I didn't answer.
"I'll have Johnson take you home." He said after a silence.
I smiled. "Sure."
"Great! I'll make it up to you baby girl, I promise." He leaned forward and kissed me softly. The familiar flutter in my tummy appeared, I did love Gilinsky. But for how long?
I smiled halfheartedly as he jogged off leaving me alone. I walked out the front doors and to the car park where tonnes of students milled around.
"Jes!" I heard a voice behind me and turned around. It was Jack Johnson.
"Hey Jack." I smiled.
"Gilinsky just texted me saying you need a ride?" He was by my side shortly. (Yeah a ride on something alright...oml my filthy mind)
"Yeah he's..busy." I shrugged.
"Come on." He said walking to his car parked a few feet away. "We can get some icecream if you want."
I smiled. "That'd be great!"
So we got into the car and he started backing out of the school parking lot.
"Where's Brianna?" I asked.
"Oh she's hanging out with Sammy after school." He said. "Some Art project they have to do."
I almost snorted then held it back, with a laugh that was dying to escape. Brianna didn't even have Art, she hated it in fact, I totally see her plot. I wouldn't blame her, Jack is pretty overprotective.
"What's funny?" Jack asked while driving to the ice cream shop nearby.
I smirked. "Boys are so dumb."
He chuckled. "Except for me, know why? I'm a man not a boy."
I giggled and ruffled his blond hair, which he hated. "Alright Johnson whatever you say man!"
Jack flattened his hair. "Its been almost a year Jesy, when will you atop doing that?"
"Never!" I laughed loudly. "You gotta admit you love it."
"Oh of course! I love when people mess up my hair." He rolled his eyes and ruffled my hair with his free hand.
"Hey!" I laughed and swatted Jacks hand away. "It took me all morning to get my hair straight!"
We laughed together as Jack found an empty parking and cut the engine off. It was a hot day, thank god for ice cream. Together we walked into Dairy Queen.
"Don't get chocolate this time." Jack shot me a 'I know you so well' look. And just as I was about to fill my cup with chocolate flavored ice cream.
"You suck." I pouted. "Okay why don't we switch. You take chocolate and I'll take strawberry and vanilla. You always take that."
"I like your thinking Nelson." Jack nodded enthusiastically. "Let's switch it."
After getting ice cream and our favorite topping, we sat outside at one of the wooden tables. There were plenty of kids from our school.
"Thanks." Jack said as he stole a scoop of my ice cream all nonchalantly.
I laughed. "You're insane Johnson."
And then things were quiet. Not awkward o strange. We swapped ice creams and just looked around, taking in the scene and enjoying each others company.
"Jack?" I said breaking the silence. The happiness in me fading slowly as I came to a realization.
"What's wrong?" He asked, surveying my frown.
"Am I good enough?" I asked quietly, looking down.
"What do you mean?" Jack frowned.
"For Gilinsky..." I trailed off. "Am I good enough for him?"
Jack was quiet for a while.
"Jesy you know that's a stupid question to ask." He said finally. "You're enough for him. More than enough if you ask me."
I sighed. "He's been avoiding me lately and I can't help but think he doesn't want to be with me."
Jack snorted. "Please! The guy loves you."
"Yeah I guess." I fiddled with my fingers still over thinking things. Gilinsky sure seemed like he loves me...but I didn't feel very sure about it.
I quickly wiped away a stray tear and hated myself for being weak in front of Jack.
"Hey look." Jack took my hand. "You're smart, funny, kind and beautiful. You're the full package...and I know I'm sounding like a bad friend but Jack doesn't deserve a girl half as amazing as you."
I blushed. "Jack..."
"You're my friend." He said. "You deserve to be happy, you're always making people happy Jes..you should be too."
I nodded. "You're wonderful Johnson."
"Oh I know." He laughed and let go of my hand, the warm feeling still lingering.
I laughed. It was the best feeling, to be with someone who always made you laugh.
Since Gilinsky and I dated, Jack has been a best friend. Always there when I needed a talk. Always there when Gilinsky and I would fight, he would help mend things again.
After finishing the ice creams, we talked more as the sun started setting. Then Jack suggested taking me home before my mom got worried.
When we got into the car, Jack turned to me and said, "Buckle up please."
I smiled. When we got into the car at school he said the same thing. He always said that when I was in the same car as him. I felt so happy...even if I was sad deep down.
As we drove in silence, I looked at Jack concentrating on the road ahead with his brows furrowed. His blue eyes were bright and warm as always.
"Thank you." I said quietly.
Jack chuckled. "For what?"
"For being there for me. You're always there Jack."
"Come on Jesy." He sighed. "You know I'll always be there."
