-Jesy POV-

It was 11 p.m when I got a call from Mrs Gilinsky.

Jack and I were on my bed, testing each other on math but really all we did was joke around and kiss once in a while.

My head fell as the million things she could call me about crossed my mind.

"Hey Mrs G what's up?" I asked worriedly. Jack watched me.

"Hey Jesy, I called to tell you to come down to see Jack." She said unemotionally.

"What? Is everything okay?" I asked getting off the bed already.

"He - the doctors don't think he'll make it." She added with a choke at the end.

"No." I exhaled.

"Since yesterday, he hasn't been responding to anything - just come on down, I'll call Jack." Mrs G spoke fast.

"It's okay, I'll get him." I said quietly then ended the call.

"What happened?" Jack asked immediately.

I told him what Mrs G had told me and in a split second we were rushing out of my house and to the hospital.

My gut sense told me Gilinsky wouldn't just...give up right now on everyone. But I didn't want him to suffer anymore.

"Hey he'll be okay." Jack held my hand with his free one. "He'll be fine."

I nodded numbly.

We parked at the hospital. God I hated this place so much. Jack took my hand and we both rushed up, bursting into the hospital room to find Mrs G bawling her eyes out.

"Is he?" I asked loudly.

"No." Mr Gilinsky - David said.

"I'll be honest." A new doctor said from beside Gilinsky. "His health isn't looking too dandy."

"Then fix him!! Aren't you suppose to be a doctor?" I yelled in his face.

"Jesy - " Jack pulled my arm to restraint me.

"No! Fix him! Just make him wake up again and be - just do it!" I cried loudly.

My heart was falling to pieces thinking that Gilinsky could be gone in a few minutes, hours, days or weeks.

"I just thought you may like to say goodbye just in case..." The doctor smiled sympathetically.

I laughed dryly. "I'm leaving! This is a damn joke."

And then I ran out of the dreadful room. Down the empty hallways with tears in my eyes. I could hear Jack shouting for me to stop but I ran faster.

If only I could run away from the fact that Gilinsky was dying while I was playing house with Jack. I could have done something.

"Jesy!" Jack got to me just as reached the truck.

"Leave me alone." I sniffed.

"So you're gonna push me away when you're upset." Jack asked and stepped closer. My back was to him.

"Leave." I said harshly. "You don't get it."

"I do get it Jesy. You're gonna hurt me because you feel guilty." Jack scoffed and pulled me against his chest. "Well get the fuck over it because you need me and I need you."

I sobbed harder.

"Can we just go home?"

Jack kissed my forehead. "Let's get out of here."
