-Jesy POV-

"I'm sorry you have to be in all of this Jack, it's not fair." I said to Jack Johnson as we walked outside to get fresh air.

The party behind us has reached its peak and every one was having a good time - except for me.

"I just hate seeing you hurt." He said to me as we sat down in the front porch steps. The moonlight shining down on us, it was a beautiful night. Too bad it had to end this way.

"What do I do?" I asked Jack.

He chuckled. "I can't answer that Jesy, I would love to but...Jack isn't a bad guy, he does love you."

I sighed. "Sometimes that's not enough ya know?"

He nodded and was about to respond when his phone rang.

"Local hospital? Why would they be calling me?" He frowned, stood up and answered.

There was a pause when Jacks face drained and was ghostly pale in the moonlight. I began to feel worried and hope the call wasn't about someone we knew. I waited for him to end the call.

"We have to go to the hospital!" Jack said immediately slipping his phone in his pocket. "NOW!"

"Woah Jack calm down! What happened?" I asked worriedly.

"Gilinsky was in an accident." Jack said grimly. "He's in the ICU, he's unconscious Jes."

A sick feeling rose in my stomach as Jack pulled me towards the car. Everything seemed to slow down - my mind could not process what I'd just heard. Jack Gilinsky, my Jack? In ICU?

I felt my stomach drop as Jack sped to the hospital like lightening, leaving his house and the party behind us. Tears were rolling down my face, my mind worried by what could have happen.

"This must have been the scene." Jack said slowly passing police cars and red tape. It was the route leading to his house and the nearby hospital. I noticed Gilinsky's car buried underneath the gigantic truck.

"Oh god." I croaked feeling my heart sink lower. Tears kept coming as I took in the scene, poor Gilinsky must have been in shock when it happened.

"Must have taken him to this hospital." Jack said and sped up, not bothered about the speed limit. I understood his pain and urgency to get to Gilinsky.

When Jack and I got to the hospital, we got out and and hurried into the building. My heart was beating fast as Jack asked to see a Jack Gilinsky, the lady at the desk gave us directions.

I sniffed feeling my heart wanting to give up on me. "Oh god I just hope he's okay."

We reached his room where a young doctor nodded and let us in. I wish I could have ran back out - in front of me was a bruised, broken and bloody version of Jack Gilinksy lying in the bed. Blood stained the sheets horribly.

"Oh Jack." I burst into tears and held his unconscious body to mine, several tubes were hooked up to him. I've never seen him so lifeless before.

Jack stood behind me, stiff and quiet like he couldn't breath. His comforting hand on my shoulder as i sobbed onto Gilinsky's chest. I couldn't feel his breath rising or deflating.

"Please be okay please be okay." I sobbed harder. I shouldn't have fought with him tonight, we shouldn't have went separate ways. This could have been avoided.

"Jesy - " Jack tried to say calmly. His voice broke at the end.

"The last thing I said to him was that I hate him." I cried harder and held onto my boyfriend harder.

-Jack POV-

"Jesy stop..you're cutting the chords." I said holding back tears. I couldn't cry infront of her, she needed someone now.

"Come here." I pulled Jesy into my arms and let her sob. She was shaking out of control and clinging to my shirt.

"I- I said I h-hate him J-jack." Jesy stuttered through heavy tears. My heart was aching for her, I've never seen her more broken in my life.

"He's gonna be okay Jes." I held her tighter and longer. I didn't want to let her go for one second because I was afraid she would fall apart.

As she continued to cry on my shoulder, our family and Gilinsky's parents streamed into the room. All of them crying the second that saw Gilinsky lying there - Mrs G lost her shit completely.

It was hard to stay calm, seeing your best friend since birth lying hopeless. You sort of felt hopeless too.

A doctor emerged and stood in the center of the room with us surrounding him. His face bared bad news the second he walked in. Jesy straightened up and wiped her eyes for nothing - the tears flowed anyway.

"I'm sorry to say that Mr Gilinsky is in a coma. The impact with the truck was too much for him." The doctor told us. "The alcohol definitely started the whole thing."

Mrs G gasped and held onto her husband for dear life.

"W-when will he wake?" Jesy asked beside me, her voice shook signalling she was about to burst into tears.

"Well we aren't sure." He said. "Could be a couple weeks even months before he comes to. With injuries this bad, the concussion is severe and I'm sorry to say...he may not make it."

"What?" Jesy gasped loudly. I reached for her hand.

"You're gonna do everything you can right?" Mrs G said. "To make him okay."

"We're trying our best Mrs G." The doctor nodded.

After hours the clock on the hospital wall read 3:15 a.m. but Jesy stayed awake her eyes fixed on the floor in a zombified way.

"You need to go home honey. You need to eat or get some rest. " Mrs G said to Jesy.

She didn't answer but just shook her head and kept her eyes on the floor. She looked as if her walls came falling down and she couldn't bare holding them up. Mrs G looked at me for help - she was right, Jesy needed sleep.

I stood up and crouched in front of Jesy's chair. She looked up slowly and met my eyes.

"I'll take you home, get you showered, grab some food...we'll come back." I said softly so nobody else could hear us.

She shook her head. "I'm not hungry."

"Then you can sleep." I recommended but she looked distressed.

"I can't sleep! Jack I can't! I don't know what I feel right now!" She yelled loudly and angrily. "Please just understand."

I nodded and took her hand. "Then I'll stay too."

I sat down next to her, she curled up on the chair and rested her head on my shoulder. I felt her shake with sobs so I put my arm around her and pulled her closer.

"Sorry for snapping at you." She sniffed.

"Don't worry about it." I rubbed her arm.

After a few minutes, Jesy closed her eyes and dozed off in my arms. My jacket was still wet from her tears but I was glad she got some sleep.

I stared at the ICU sign above us on the door to Jacks room and sighed. I should have stopped him when he wanted to leave, he was drunk and shouldn't have been driving.

I felt like it was my fault.
