Author: **Slight Spoilers** The text in italics is of course Kat's wolf speaking. Only Kat can hear her and communicate with her, for now. The wolf is only ever in control when given control, or if the human side is too badly hurt to remain in control. For the most part, the wolves are very humanized but every once and a while a member will have a dark side that overpowers the good in the wolf.
In a tribe, the wolf can communicate with other members of their individual pack (smaller wolf packs within the larger 'tribe') unless the wolf doesn't have an alpha. Kat does not belong to a pack, having run away and essentially been "banished." So, she and her wolf are essentially alone together. The wolves can also communicate with their links, but only if the links have a wolf. Finally, immediate family members' wolves can communicate with one another all of Kat's immediate family is deceased. So yeah that's all. :) Thanks for reading, enjoy the chapter.
Kat's POV:
I finally remember how to walk again after staring at the closed door for so long. I still can't believe that just happened, though Crescent couldn't be happier. I make it over to the bed and grab my bag. I open it and smell inside, they didn't go through it so that's one less thing to worry about I guess. I sit down next to my bag on the bed, surprised at how soft it is. I can't even remember the last time I slept in an actual bed.
I can't get that kiss out of my head, and Crescent sure isn't helping. She is squirming with giddiness, enough to make a person sick. But that kiss....it was so....so different. I never really dated a whole lot of guys mostly pack guys and a few humans to see what it was like. Pack guys always kiss rough and you can taste exactly what they want from you on their lips. Humans weren't usually rough, if anything they usually registered as weak or food in a weird way, but you could still taste what they wanted from you too. Michael's kiss wasn't like that. His was soft, yet firm.
His kiss was wonderful, I hope we kiss him again soon. Oh dear Luna why me??
I do have to agree with her though, it was an amazing kiss. It's almost like he sensed what I needed from him, what I had been longing for once upon a time. If he was my link, my match, my mate, it would be perfect.....but only if things were different.
But if he is ours he won't care what we are.......he will accept us and love us and make us happy and protect us. He will help raise our pups. He could live as long as we do and we could be happy again. NO. NO. NO. You're believing a fantasy Crescent, snap out of it.
I hear Crescent cry out against my negativity towards her hopes. Why can't my wolf and my emotions mature faster, just a little bit faster, than my body for once. There is simply no way, no possible way that a relationship with him would even work.
But why?? Why won't you at least try? Balto would have wanted us to try and be happy and find our link, our mate.
I flinch when she says that.....Balto, Nate's wolf. She misses him as much as I miss Nate, and she should they were both our brother. I hear her whine out an apology but I'm prepared to show her why the relationship wouldn't work.
Alright Crescent, you want to know why it wouldn't work out between Michael and I. First, we are different species. Second, there is a huge age difference. I mean we're turning 156 this July, when he's probably what like 24 tops. Third, there is no way he could understand what we did and why we did it. I couldn't tell him what we did, what I am, what I've done, some of the things that we've both thought of doing. It just wouldn't work. I'm sorry, but we can't stay with him and he probably isn't even ours. We can't have him, he deserves better Crescent. I'm sorry.
