Chapter 23: Can this be Home?

Kat's POV:

The elevator door opens and he isn't waiting for me like last time. I walk down to his room and softly knock. I hear a scuffling noise inside and this footsteps before the door swings open. He's blushing and I hear his heart beat speed up slightly. Is he nervous? I think he is....but why?

"Kat! Are you sure you're well enough to have left the hospital room? You were passed out for like nine hours and still shaking like half an hour ago. Are you sure you feel well enough to be up here?"

"Well, this wasn't exactly the welcome I was hoping for but I feel fine. Doc gave me some meds and hooked me up. I'm as good as new. I was actually wondering if you wanted to go for a walk outside and maybe grab dinner downstairs if you haven't already eaten."

His face still looks concerned, he's still nervous about something, and he hasn't moved away from the door yet. In fact, he's making sure his room is blocked from my view. Then I hear it, other heartbeats coming from inside his room, he isn't alone.

"But now that I know that you have company I uh, I might just go grab some food and hit the sack early. I hate to intrude, I'm sorry."

I turn around to leave but he grabs my hand and sighs softly. He pulls me into him for a hug and kisses me lightly on the cheek.

"Now that there is not chance of this being a surprise for later down the road in our relationship, I guess you should come on in. I'll show you what I've been working on. Well what Alec, Pete, and I have been working on."

I walk into his room greeted with a shy grin from Pete and a weird stare from Alec before he smiles at me. What is with that guy? I look toward the pile of tools and pieces of something laying scattered on the floor on the empty side of his room.

"Okkk....I give up. What is it?'

"Haha, it may not look like it but it's a full size bed frame and spring set for a futon bed. The mattress is on top of my bed there. I umm got approval for you to move into my room but only if there were two beds. That way Rayne could have her own room again when her trip ended. He only allowed it because he thinks we're links too."

He had leaned in close to my ear and whispered that last part. I laugh a little at the site, as well how well the actual building is going. I also wonder how exactly that conversation went with the professor, haha. I have to admit my man is sneaky to have managed to get this approved without me noticing anything.

"Uhuh......how much longer do you think it will take haha?"

"Well it may not look like much now, but just make Michael sleep on the mattress for it and you take his bed and you're all set haha." (Pete)

"Shut up Pete. It doesn't look that bad, does it Kat?"

"Umm.....Pete, Alec, why don't you two give us a while so we can talk about this......thing ok?"

"Ooooo, rejected huh Michael? Haha yeah that's fine, we're meeting up with Melissa and Kitty to do homework in a few anyway. See yah later."

I wait for them to leave and for the door to shut behind them before I turn back to Michael. He seems upset to say the least, oh boy. I hope he doesn't think I don't want to stay here. I do want to stay with him in here,  just in the same bed.

"So you don't like the idea?"

"The idea? Yes, I like the idea of staying in here with you but they would have taken forever to build this thing. Let's try to finish this thing together in an hour. It's already what.....5:30. It's going to get dark soon and I still want to walk outside."
