Kat's POV:
I'm finally steadying myself from the kiss when I feel a burst of anger surge through me all of a sudden. What the hell?!?
Crescent...are you ok?? Yes, it is not us......it's Michael someone made him very angry but he is not hurt. Great, so that would mean that the link bond is already beginning to form. What happened to not being able to feel anything until links were marked? Sasha and Warrior felt everything the other did long before they were marked. It happens at different speeds for everyone I guess. Being marked would only make his emotions clearer for us. Well that's just peachy.
Just great, so now I have the link bond forming before I'm even close to being ready for it to form. I could prevent it from forming, but that takes energy. Energy that I need to save to finish healing before Saturday. Let's hope it doesn't progress too quickly, otherwise he'll be sensing our emotions before he even knows what we are.
I finally stand and walk towards the wall, wincing slightly as I do, trying to see how much more my leg needs to heal. I have to get ahold of Maria. I dial her home number and pray that she is home. I hear my heart speed up when someone answers it.
"Hello?"
I instantly recognize the soft cheerful voice on the other side of the phone. It's just little Alice, thank the moon.
"Alice honey, it's Auntie Kat. Would you put your mother on the phone please?"
"Hi Auntie Kat! I will, she is making lunch. I've missed you! Are you coming to visit soon??"
"Maybe in a few more weeks little Alice."
"Okay here is mom, I love you Auntie Kat!"
" You too hun."
I can't bring myself to say I love you back. I do love her, she is my goddaughter after all, but I just can't say I love you to anyone anymore. It seems that anyone I say that to, gets hurt or dies. Even trying to say it to someone, well it just hurts too much.
"Kat is that really you?!"
"Yes it is. But Maria hun, I'm in a bit of trouble and I need your help."
"What's wrong? Where are you?"
I sigh internally as my other goddaughter sounds a little too panicky right now. Her mother and grandmother were the same way though, so I shouldn't be too surprised. I've known her family for decades now. She's actually my third goddaughter, with her mother and grandmother being my goddaughters long before her. Here we go calming her down.
"Maria, I'm safe now don't worry. I'm at some school outside of Rochester. What I need your help with now is blood warehouses and where they are this week. I'm out, injured, and I need to heal before Saturday, we both know why."
"Ok, I have the locations written down. Jenny always makes sure I have them in case you call."
I smile a little knowing that Jenny still cared enough about me to risk punishment for giving that information to a human, even if she was a pack protected one.
"Ok, so today the warehouses on Fifth street, Main street, and Pio Nono are all open until 8 pm. Do you want the ones open tomorrow too or just today's?"
"No, I'm going today so that will be fine. Thank you. How are you, Tony, and Alice doing?"
"We are fine, though Alice misses you a lot. Her birthday is in a few more weeks. Think there is anyway you could swing by? Jenny and John are bringing Leo, they all miss you."
I feel tears start to slide down my face as I think about my friends and my godchildren missing me. I miss them too. I hate not being able to see them or even talk to them on a regular basis, but being caught by the pack would only endanger them all. It wouldn't be worth it in the end.
