Chapter 43: Damaged by the Ones Before

Kat's POV:

I put Cain and Johnny in charge of setting up the stage area outback right now, some of the older guys students are helping during their free periods. Getting Cain to relax when the young mutants were helping Jenny and Hannah, now that was almost a bigger challenge than Raul was the other night. Jenny and Hannah are placing the decorations around the yard and setting up the tables for food. With who knows how many lou garous coming Luna knows we'll need a lot of food.

 Maria is bringing over Leo and Alice around 7 for me to see them and then help Jenny and Hannah with the food. Apparently I'm not allowed to help prepare the food for my own ceremony, so I'll have a little time for just me and Crescent to mentally prepare I suppose. Johnny said he would help Michael get ready with an appropriate outfit tonight before the ceremony, and Jenny, Hannah, and Maria are helping me. Everyone else will be here by 11:30 tonight, maybe earlier.

If we manage to pull this off tonight without a hitch it will be a miracle. Or by Luna's grace. You can say that again. I still think we are doing the right thing accepting the pack tonight. Though if we're challenged later it might be fun too. You always did like a fair fight, crazy wolf. Crazy human. I roll my eyes and I can picture her doing the same in my head making me laugh a little. I'm still laying on the futon waiting for Michael to bring us lunch or at least that's where he said he was going. He better, we're starving. Ditto girl ditto.

 I hear the door open and I smell food that Michael went downstairs to get us. I guess I need to try to prepare him for the ceremony tonight first, he may not like all of it. He will worry about us when we form the bonds. I know he will, which is why we need to explain it now I guess. I sit up on the futon that I was lying on as he sets the food down on the table in front of us, and then sits next to me.

"Do you have any questions about tonight? Or would it be better for me to just explain the whole thing?"

"You can explain it, and I'll ask questions after I guess. If that'll work."

"Yeah ok........well there were about 30 lou garous in Jeremiah's pack when we were members, the number is about the same I would guess. So you'll meet them tonight. Some of them may ignore you completely, you're not a true member of the pack so they won't trust you completely. Don't take it personally, some of the older ones do it to Maria and her family have been friends to the pack for centuries now."

"Grumpy old wolves in the pack huh love?"

"Ha no, rather like old wolves who remember the old country and the traditions with vigor haha. I should warn that part of the ceremony will involve me cutting my hand repeatedly to form a bond with each of the pack members, but it won't hurt I promise it's just a necessary process. Honestly that's really all I've got for you, it'll be easier to answer questions after you've seen the ceremony I guess."

"You promise you won't be in pain love?"

"No more than if it was a pinprick I promise."

I turn and look at him and he just nods back with a smile and with a mouth full of hamburger. I can't help but laugh slightly at his expression, with his cheeks looking like a chipmunk as he smiles and eats. He gently shoves my shoulder as I begin to eat my food and then start stealing fries off of his plate, after I've finished my own, earning a shocked look from him after a while. What can I say, lou garous usually eat more than humans. I laugh again as I steal a few more fries as he finishes his hamburger. I look at his face and see that he has ketchup on his chin. We can get that off for him and tease link some. Yeah we can.

I lean towards him and go in for a kiss and just as he starts to lean in for the kiss as well I lick the ketchup off his chin laughing. I'm rewarding with an eww and another shocked look before he grabs me and pulls me to him and kisses me. Bedroom break. I sigh as I break the kiss, earning a little disappointed look from him. I need to try and keep both of us on point I suppose, or rather all three of us. Party pooper. That's the best you got? Cock blocker.  Language missy. I hear her make a hmmphh sound as she become silent though I can't blame her too much. A bedroom break would be nice but we really can't right now.
