Curse

Kai’s POV:

“Hey Maddi, can I talk to you when you aren’t busy.” We were all sitting down eating breakfast. I had finished a bit ago, but I didn’t want to bug her. I decided to tell her everything today. The sooner the better I suppose.

“Sure Kai.” She smiled and finished eating. I watched her as she stood up and placed her dishes in the sink. She turned and stared at me. “Where you want to go?”

“Oh! My room if you want to.” I stood up and headed that way. I heard her footsteps behind me, so I knew she was following me. I opened my door and waited for her to enter before shutting it. I was really nervous about this, but I tried not to show it.

“Are you ok Kai?” I looked over at Maddi, who was now sitting on my bed. I nodded and walked over to her and sat down.

“No not really. I have to tell you something important, I just hope you don’t hate me afterwards.” She gave me a reassuring smile.

“I don’t think I could ever hate you.” She took my hand and held it tightly. I nodded and took a deep breathe.

“Well, remember when I told you about Lilly?” She nodded. “Well, when you asked if I had a girlfriend after her… I lied. I did have a girlfriend after her. Her name was Brittany.” I looked away.

“Why didn’t you tell me about her? Why did you lie to me?” She had let go of my hand and I regretted not telling her sooner.

“Because Brittany is worse than Lilly. Brittany and I dated for only 3 months. They were the worst 3 months of my life. She was so clingy and violent with me. At first, I tried to like it, but I couldn’t.” I bit my lip.

“So why didn’t you leave her sooner?” I could her the confusion in her voice.

“She was the first person to find me after I caught Lilly with Kris. I had ran out of the dorm and went to the bar to drink. We danced and had fun together drinking. Because of the alcohol in my brain, I told her everything.” I finally looked up at Maddi.

“The reason I didn’t leave was because she threatened to tell all my secrets to the world. If she did, I’d be kicked out of Exo-K and probably would never be able to sing and dance again.”

“What do you mean? Are you’re secrets that bad?” I nodded.

“Actually they are. Maddi… please try to understand ok?... I… I killed a person..” Her eyes widen and she stood up from the bed. I stood up and took her hands. “Please Maddi, let me explain.” She took a deep breath and nodded.

“Ok Kai. I will let you explain.” She sat back down and waited.

“I was only ten years old. My dad had given me a gun and was teaching me how to defend myself. I wasn’t sure how to use it though and I was really scared. The next thing I know, the gun in my hand went off and it hit one of my dad’s friends. He died immediately.” I was disgusted with myself.

“Well, that was just an accident. I am glad you are ok.” Maddi spoke quietly.

“Thank you.” I sat next to her. “This is my curse I was talking about. I have really bad relationships.”

“We all have a few bad ones.” She shrugged. “So is that all you wanted to talk about?”

“Actually no. It gets worse. Brittany has found me and is now stalking me. I had to tell you myself, but you need to be very careful.”

“Why is she stalking you?”

“She wants me to get rid of you. She doesn’t like the idea of you replacing her.” Maddi nodded.

“Ok I will try and be careful. You be careful too ok? I wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to you.” She smiled at me.

“You still care about me? You still want to be with me?” I asked confused.

“Well of course silly. I really like you Kai.” I blushed at her words.

“I like you too Maddi.” I hugged her and she hugged back.

“So what now?” She asked.

“I will protect you until we get rid of the crazy stalker.” I laughed.
