Chapter 16: Tension

Giganta gritted her teeth as she glared at Power Girl. "Pretty girl, your boyfriend over there doesn't stand a chance." The clone of Supergirl taunted Giganta.

"Get off me, bitch!" Giganta yelled, smacking Power Girl off. The clone came flying straight at Giganta, who swatted her down and stomped on her.

"And you get away from him!" The giantess kicked the Suicide Squad away from Flash.

Shrinking down to normal height, Doris ran up to Wally. "Are you okay?" She asked, catching him in a hug. The Scarlet Speedster chuckled, looking at her with a smile.

  "I'm fine, love. Just a scratch." He winced, needing to knee down for a bit.

Power Girl erupted from the ground and flew above the couple. "I'll kill you!" She fired her heat vision but the couple was protected by a golden barrier.

Doctor Fate and Hawkgirl flew down to aid the couple. "Don't worry, my friends, we have this covered."The sorcerer assured them.

"As for you." Fate blasted Power Girl with his magic beams to stun the clone of Supergirl, rendering her useless.

Captain Boomerang, Baron Blitzkrieg, and Electrocutioner regrouped to see Power Girl knocked out. "Shit, we're goners." Harkness gulped.

"By the looks of it." Hawkgirl swooped down towards Task Force X, incapacitating the three of them with her mace.

"Again I have to save you from a near death experience." Hawkgirl teased Flash, placing her mace on its sheathe.

The two heroes then noticed the woman next to Flash and stared. "I'll explain later. Let's just go."

Doctor Fate opened a portal in the form of an ankh, through where the four entered. 

"Damn it." Power Girl groaned as she regained consciousness.

"The Flash got away. Orders ma'am." The captain offered his hand to help her. Karen instead fired her heat vision through his skull, killing him.

The three members of Task Force X also recovered from their knockout. "There goes Flash." Captain Boomerang grunted.

  "I thought that with Power Girl he would've been captured." Electrocutioner said. "Guess I was wrong about that."

   The clone of Supergirl heard his remark and flew towards him. She clutched her hand around his neck and lifted him up.

  "I didn't see you do any better!" Power Girl shouted in his face, tightening her grip. She sighed as she released her grip. Electrocutioner began coughing to catch his breath.

The four exited from the portal once arriving at Fate's home. Superman and Batman approached the arriving heroes to see Flash.

  "Wally, you had us worried." The Man of Steel said to him, patting his back. Batman has his usual frown but smirked at the Scarlet Speedster. "I don't do the niceties. But good to know you're well." 

Flash smiled at his friends, glad to be safe. Hawkgirl threw a light punch at his shoulder. "Hey, what was that for?" He complained, rubbing his shoulder.
