Chapter 29: Discovered

Luthor's Island
Friday, October 14
9:10 p.m.
The Justice League and Society's attempt to capture Nelson Alvarez didn't go as planned. The mission resulted in his death, additionally Heat Wave and Humanite's.

Most of the heroes and villains were minding their own business throughout the mansion, but Superman had summoned for others to Luthor's lair to discuss matters concerning Warstrom.

Superman called for Batman, Flash, Giganta, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Cheetah, Doctor Fate, Calculator, Deathstroke, and Martian Manhunter.

"It's been three weeks since we tried bringing Alvarez in. And since then, we haven't done a thing." Superman began. "Warstrom still holds great influence across the globe."

"Come on, Big Blue. That three-week vacation was one we deserved." Luthor retorted, earning a frown from the Man of Steel.

"Ahem." Batman coughed, intervening on the arguing. He caught the attention of everyone gathered so can get to the point. "Because of that influence, we came to the decision in going after two Warstrom heads."

The gathered heroes and villains were intrigued by the thought. "The idea was suggested by Doctor Fate."

"Who're the targets then, Bats?" The Scarlet Speedster asked.

"Maxwell Lord and Theodore Castle. They're next." Batman answered the Flash's question.

Superman was to continue. "We're going to be working on a proper strategy. This would require timing, location, the participants." He said, putting on display information on both businessmen on the monitor.

"As well as all possible scenarios by carrying the mission out." Lex Luthor added.

Superman nodded. "That too. And that's why I had you summoned. Now time to..." He paused at the last part once alarms began to resonate throughout the entire island.

  "Lex, what do the alarms mean?" As Batman asked, Luthor hurried over to the monitor and  moved Superman away.

   A frown crossed the bald man's face as he pressed a button beneath the keyboard. The monitor's screen displayed the security film showing Warstrom forces disembarking on the shore.

Luthor punched the keyboard in anger, breaking it in half. "We've been discovered. Gaines has sent his army to finish us." With Luthor's declaring, everyone ran from the lair to mansion.

   The rest of the Justice League and Society met up with Superman and the others. "What's going on?" Green Lantern asked as he landed near Superman.  

The roof was blown off with artillery fire coming from the fleet outside. "Everyone out! Now!" The Man of Steel yelled, flying out of the mansion.

The rest of the heroes and villains hurried out of the mansion before it crumbled down. "We hold them off as long as we can. We won't get far if an entire army after us." Superman ordered.

"Blast them!" A barrage of cannon fire was aimed at the heroes and villains. Doctor Fate, Green Lantern, Star Sapphire, Sinestro, and Zatanna created a barrier to protect them.

  "Go!" Superman flew straight towards a ship, flying right through it causing it to explode. The ground forces engaged in combat with the Justice League.
