Chapter 27: First Target pt. 2

"What now, Humanite? We're surrounded on all sides." Hawkgirl asked, holding her mace up ready for battle.

Ultra-Humanite huffed as more soldiers and Marauders lined up around them. "Like I said, our best and only option is to take them head on." He replied with a snort.

"Killer Frost!" With Humanite shouting her name, Killer Frost created an ice barrier around the group to protect herself and the rest of the team from Warstrom's barrage.

The albino ape fired upon the soldiers with his ray-gun, killing several of them. Heat Wave incinerated others with his flamethrowers.

"Burn you fucking metal-heads!" Marauders were caught in Heat Wave's flamethrowers and he expected them to be burnt to crisp. However, the machines came out unharmed like nothing.

"Fuck my life." He hid behind the ice barrier to avoid being gunned down by the killing droids.

   Hawkgirl charged her mace with electricity as she smashed the Marauders apart. A soldier tried attacking from behind but she blocked the bullets with her mace and knocked him out with a smite to the face.

Killer Frost froze many soldiers in a block of ice and had Pistolera plant a bomb, exploding the soldiers into pieces.

Now having dealt with the Warstrom forces stopping them, Humanite gave orders to continue moving up.

"Quick, up the staircase to reach the elevators." The ape humanoid ran to the staircase, followed by Pistolera and Heat Wave.

Hawkgirl flew above them towards the staircase before they reached. Killer Frost used her powers to create an ice surface for her to slide all the way to the staircase.

The heroes reached the elevator and walked into it. "Up we go." The elevator began to go up once Humanite pressed the button next to level 50.

"Doesn't anyone else feel unsafe?" Frost asked as she around, seeing the elevator was made of glass.

"Well, so far nothing's happened." Pistolera retorted, quietly humming the the tunes the elevator was playing.

The team turned around as a bright light was being shined at them. Killer Frost poked Pistolera and pointed out. "You were saying, cowgirl?" Outside a helicopter hovered with its turrets aimed at them.

"I see what you meant. This is bad indeed. Humanite?" The helicopter turrets began firing at the heroes inside the elevator.

  "Out we go!" Ultra-Humanite broke down the doors of the elevator on the 37th floor. He and the team jumped out as the elevator began falling down.

   They ran up the stairs with the helicopter hot on their tail, firing at their near positions.

   The team kept on running up until finally coming to a stop of the 50th. "Somebody take that damn chopper down!" Humanite ordered, covering behind a wall with Heat Wave, Pistolera, Killer Frost, and Hawkgirl.

  "I've got it." Pistolera moved from her spot, her aim locked on the pilots and shooting them dead. The chopper began swirling out of control until it crashed into another building.
