Unexpected (ON HOLD)

Chapter 19

"YOYON!" I shouted as I barged inside the room and saw Kat, Bianca, and Rhi busily playing 'Game of the generals' on the bed. The two waved at me and I waved back as I waited for her to respond.

She continued to stare at the board in front of them and started to speak without looking at me. "Bakit, lablab? Come here. Tabi ka sa'kin." she grabbed the stuffed animal beside her and patted the now empty space, signalling for me to sit down. "Para may inspiration naman ako."

I rolled my eyes playfully (even though she couldn't see it) as I marched towards the bed and plopped next to her. I held up my phone up and faced her. "Paki exp--"

"Wait." she interrupted, her eyes never leaving the steel pieces. The crease on her forehead disappeared when she moved her spy to right and it was now Bianca's turn.

She leaned back and wrapped her arms around my waist, enveloping me into a side hug. She faced me and our eyes finally met. "Game. Ano yun?" she smiled.

I held up my phone again but this time it was inches away from her face. "Ano 'to?" my voice was stern, but I was trying to control my smile.

She backed up and looked at the screen. "Alin? Teka naman, maduduling na ko, Cha." She grabbed my hand and pushed it a little to get a better glimpse of what I was showing to her.

Para-paraan din 'to si Yoyon e. Pwede namang 'yung phone ko na lang yung hawakan, bakit kasama pati kamay ko? Hahahaha! Hay nako, Glaiza. Tigilan mo na nga 'tong mga pantasya mo. Umaasa ka lang e.

She squinted her eyes and laughed when she saw it clearly. "Edi picture mo nung nagc-cook ka ng pancakes the other day." she said proudly as she returned her hand on my tummy and stared back at the board.

"Ba't mo pinost? Tingnan mo nga itsura ko dito, nakakahiya."

"What? Parang hindi naman. Ang hot mo kaya diyan. Ruffled hair, exposed skin, covered in sweat, plus the cooking! Oh god, you were just screaming girlfriend material! I couldn't help but take a picture." she extended her left hand to move a piece and placed it back after.

I smiled and pinched her nose. "Stalkeeeeer."

She looked at me as she tucked a strand of my hair and smiled. "Sa'yo lang naman."

I just stared at her. Dammit. She always knows the right things to say to leave me speechless.

Bianca cleared her throat loudly and Kat laughed. "Omg. Rastro is real na ba talaga? Hahaha!"

"We're still here, girls. Mamaya na kayo magloving-loving."

Rhian and I looked at each other and laughed. "Shut up, you two." Rhi said as she hugged me tighter. "Tigilan niyo nga kami ni Cha."

"Oo nga. Nako, maglaro na nga lang kayo diyan. Haha" I said.

"Whatevs." Bianca replied as they continued to play.

After a few turns Rhian placed her three-star general on Bianca's piece. Kat, as the arbiter, checked the pieces and smiled. She held both pieces and removed Bianca's. "Panalo si Yoyon!" she said as she showed a red flag on the steel piece.
