Chapter 23. Alexandria

Lexi's POV

When the sun rose we all piled into a car and the RV. I sat in a chair in the RV and Carl sat across from me. He smiled at me and I smiled back. I don't know what to expect of this place. It could be like terminus for all we know.

  They could put us in cages like animals. Take our stuff. Feed us to the walkers. But I don't want to think about that, I just want to think of this place as a place we can live. Where we can be safe.

  Daryl sat in a chair across groom us and I smiled at him.

" ready." He said and I nodded.

" always. What about you?"I asked back. He let out a small chuckle and sat his crossbow down.

" yeah, I'm ready."

" look." Rosita said to Abraham who was driving the RV. I looked too and there was a big city. I sighed and sat back down.

" are you okay?" Carl asked and out his hand over mine. I smiled and kissed his hand.

" just nervous." I said and he nodded.

  Soon everyone stopped and I grabbed my things and walked outside. We pulled up in front of a huge gate and I smiled. Rick held Judith and Carl grabbed my hand. Something moved next to me and I jumped back and raised my gun. Daryl shot it, which by 'it' I mean a opossum. I sighed and put my gun back in its holster.

Aaron walked up to the gates and they opened. He smiled at us and told us to follow him.

" welcome to Alexandria. This is Nicholas" he said, referring to the guy who opened the gate.

" Diana wants to talk to you all." Nicholas said.m

" who's Diana!" Abraham asked and he stayed silent until Aaron spoke up.

" she runs this place." He said and we followed him.

  As we waited for Daryl to get out of Diana's house I talked to Beth.

" so what did she ask you." I asked. Rick had gone first, than Carl,Beth,Maggie,Glenn,Daryl than I'm next.

" she just asked how we all met, how good are we, what all we've done. But she asked everyone different questions. ' she told me as Daryl walked out.

Me nodded towards me and kissed me on the head before I walked in.

  Sitting on a couch was who Im guessing is Diana.

" you must be Lexi." She said and shook my hand. I had no emotion in my face as she directed me to sit in a chair.

" do you mind if I record this?" She asked.

" why?" I said. It came out a lot meaner sounding than it was supposed to.

" educational purposes." Was all she said and I nodded. She sat back down and cleared her throat.

" so what's your full name and age." She said.

" is this really all necessary?" I asked. I was literally on the edge of my seat. She nodded and I sighed.

"Lexi Ann Dixon. And I'm 15"

" how did this all start, from the day to when you met Rick."

" the day it started I was home alone with my dad and Daryl. My dad died right in front of me. Daryl took me with him and we ran out of gas in his motorcycle. A heard came to protect me he told me to run. I climbed up a tree and he never came back. I thought that he got over run or just left me. ." I breath in and shut my eyes. A tear fell from the sudden memory and I wiped it away and continued.

" I was a lone for about a year when I came up to a prison. Ricks prison. They let me in right away and that's when i was back with Daryl. Rick was very kind to me. He treated us all as family. We are family. Not by blood but by heart. He's been loyal to us. Kept us all safe. He saved everyone in this group more than a hundred times." I said and she nodded.

" how long have you been with ricks son, Carl." She asked. I wanted to ask why she needs to know all this but I let the thought lass and just answered her.

" about a year or more." I answered her and she nodded. She let me leave and when I walked out the door Carl walked up to me.

" babe why are you crying?" He asked. I didn't even notice I was still crying from the memories.

" just talking about the past really gets to me." I said and he hugged me.

  Later when everyone was done with their interviews, Diana assigned us to two huge houses. Rick wanted all of us to stay in one tonight for safety reasons.

" so there's running water?" Rick asked Aaron.

" yup, hot water." He said. After that me and Carl ran j to a house and up the stairs to the bathroom. I turned on the sink and washed my face off with warn water. I smiled and laughed as Carl smiled at me. He handed me a towel and I'd ride off my face. I looked at my now clean face and smiled.

" still beautiful." Carl said and wrapped his hands around my waist. I blushed and kissed him. He pulled away and grabbed my hand, leading me downstairs with everyone else.

" we're all gonna go look around." Carol said and we nodded. Soon everyone was gone and we were alone.

" wanna go take a shower?" Carl asked with a smirk and I smiled.

"Sure." I said and we made our way to the bathroom.
