Chapter 29. Safe

Lexi's POV

Carol a me back and me and Carl went to the meeting place. There was a dead walker on the ground, Pete had a gunshot to the head, and Diana's husband was dead. I covered my mouth and Carl wrapped his arm around me. I put my face in his neck and we walked to Diana's. We walked up onto her porch and I looked through the window.

  Diana was sobbing on the couch while Maggie was supporting her. Maggie looked up at me and gave me a half smile. I didn't know how to respond to that, so we walked away.

" let's go home. Get some sleep." Carl said and I nodded.

  When we got home Rick was there with a man. Carl told me to go lay down and I walked up to our room. I changed into a tank top and some shorts. My tank top was getting right around my stomach and I smiled. I laid down in my bed against the wall and sighed.

  So I Hearn the door open, shoes hitting the hard wood floor, and the other side of the bed leaning in. I felt carls around me and turned to face him.

" I love you." He whispered and kissed me.

" I love you too."

Next morning

I walked downstairs and Rick was talking to Daryl.

" get as many people as possible, we need the numbers." Rick said and left.

" numbers for what?" I asked and Daryl jumped.

" we've been wondering why there hasn't been that many walkers here. Well we found a big blocked off space where they've all been piling up. Hundreds, maybe even thousands. There's two semis blocking the way out tho. But Rick said when the semi on the cliff in the back falls, that's when we have to move them all out." He explained. I nodded.

" I'm going." I said and he walked up to me.

" Lexi I can't let you go. It's too dangerous and your pregnant!" He said and I sighed.

" Daryl. That's not your choice to make. I'm almost 16 and your not my dad." I said and the last part made me look down.

" fine but your riding with me." He said. I nodded and he walked out. I walked up to my room and Carl was there.

" hey I'm going with Daryl. I'll be back later." I said and kissed him.

" I know what your doing. I don't like it but I can't control you. Just promise me you'll be back, alive." He said and I smiled.

" I promise." I said and kissed him once more. I changed and walked out of the house and to the gate. Rick shook his head at me, which I ignored, and I walked up to Daryl. He handed me my hand gun, knife and a machine gun. I smiled at him and hopped on the back of his motorcycle. The gate opened and and we were off.

  We followed behind Michonne and Abraham in a car and Rick and everyone else in the RV. He plan was to slowly lean the walkers to the west, the opposite direction of Alexandria.

  When we got there I stood next to Daryl while Rick went over the plan. I kept my eyes on the walkers because there were all way to close to moving and getting out of the semis. We heard a crash and all looked up at the semi on the cliff. It fell and crashed to the ground.

" ok we're doing this NOW!" Rick yelled and Daryl motioned me to get onto his bike. Rick shot off two flares and they started coming through the semis.

" shoot any that come close." Daryl told me and I nodded. He started his bike and as the big herd of walkers came tumbling after us, we drove off. I kept turning my head towards them to make sure they were a good distance away.

  We were going like 10mph and it scared me.

  We kept driving behind Abraham and Michonne when a few walkers got off task, and wondered off into the  woods. Abraham got out of the car and went over them. A few was behind him that he didn't see and I panicked. I Jumped off Daryl's bike and ran after them.

" hey!" I yelled and one turned around.

" hey assfaces!" I yelled louder and the other turned towards me.

" yeah come on.." I said. They followed me back on the road and I ran back to Daryl and jumped on his bike.

" don't ever pull something like that again or I'll have to kill ya." He said and I laughed.

  When we got the walkers where they were supposed to we all went back to Alexandria.

Carl ran to me and hugged me.

" Ella (the nurse/Doctor at Alexandria. Idk if that's really her name..) wants you to go for a check up. " Carl told me and I nodded. He walked me to the infirmary and I went into her room.

" hey Lexi, sit." She said and I did. I laid down on the bed and she pulled up my shirt. She started a small ultrasound without the picture, just to hear a heart beat. She smiled and rubbed the blue gel off of my stomach.

" well the baby is doing fine. Powerful heartbeat." She said and I smiled and stood up. My shirt slowly slid back down to it place and me and Carl walked out. When we got back to the house we did our normal routine; changing and laying down. I cuddled up to him and he kissed my head. I smiled and went to sleep.
